To clarify...

When I'm finished with npvr for the night, I hit the Power button on the PCH remote which takes me to the PCH 'Home' screen (the one with the icons for the music, video, photo, 'documents' folders). I then hit the Power button again to put the PCH into standby.

Working in reverse, I bring it out of standby with Power then have to select the 'documents' icon then select the 'NPVR' option from the pop-up menu...after a short amount of time I get the npvr home screen.

So....thinking as a recent ex-MVP user where I simply had to use the Power button on the MVP remote to wake or standby the MVP using mvpmc, what is the closest I can get to that experience? Are there scripts I can tweak which would speed things up?

Cheers,
Brian

If you have a look at the NMT section on the GB-PVR wiki you will find some documentation I did ages ago along with an auto load script (the one I use) to speed up loading etc. it would need some minor tweaks for NextPVR but nothing major ........ it's something I have been meaning to update for the NextPVR wiki but just haven't got around to yet.

I use the auto load scripts and endorse them fully, but it doesn't speed it up ....just automates the process of getting in. If anything it takes more time to exit and power down with the scripts....ask my wife she just leaves it on cos she cant be 'rsed to wait.

I would love a way to power down directly from the npvr interface, though I have no idea what mvpmcx2 changes would be required to do this....probably far more than I could imagine and therefore more than I could justify the request to save 5 seconds of my life just before I power down to sleep.

I find power down (standby) for me takes the exact same time as it does without the scripts, all I do is press the power button & as soon as the NMT logo screen appears on the TV press the power button again (although I must say this takes a lot longer with our new LCD TV than it did with the old CRT TV). For power up I just turn on the TV & then press the power button on the NMT remote & 3 seconds later the NextPVR menu is showing on the TV.

EDIT: I should have said 3 seconds later it is loading NextPVR it takes a bit longer to do that, but not a lot Wink

I have now updated the normal scripts for NextPVR (& will do the two & three server ones shortly) so I hopefully will get then uploaded to the NextPVR wiki sometime later today (NZ time) but I do have a fair amount of other stuff I "have" to get done today as well so it may be tomorrow.

I downloaded the script(s) and modified them and had a play.

Perhaps I'm missing something but, from standby, I still get the PCH home screen then have to navigate to select the index.htm.

Admittedly, once selected, it does an 'auto-load' process with the 3 second time-out without me having to select anything else. I can hack the script to reduce the time-out to 0 seconds (or near enough) but ideally I don't want to even see the PCH home screen at startup. Is this possible?

That was what I had in mind and understand it may not be practical but I do miss the one button on/off aspect of the MVP. I understand the PCH is a more complex beast and at some point I may have an internal HDD at which point I'll want the PCH home screen but that's a while in the future.

A couple of things speed up loading. Using the IP instead of sharename in the smb line for the share can speed up the behind the scenes mount. Using the blue key loads the html filtered list.

Nothing saves time from a full power off (when you get the popcorn logo) because that is a fully linux boot. That is slow with the MVP too, dongle load, and the full mvpmc load but then as long as the ac adapter is plugged in there is the vampire power drain.

I've seen some pretty amazing scripts replacing the main PCH menu too, but those take a hadrd disk.

The only time I have had that was when I had the wrong script in my share & the NMT thought my TV was different to the index I supplied, all I did was put both the SD & normal index's into the share & away it went automatically from then on.

Jaggy this is the problem I had with index based load. For me they only load when the share is first mounted. After it is mounted and when I exit back at the PCH menus I still have to select an html file and wait for the timeout.
