The recent changes in the BBC HD broadcasts on UK FreeSat seem to have caused a problem with my TT S2-3200 card. It still works fine for the SD channels, but it creates zero length files for BBC HD and BBC1 HD.
I get this in the nrecord log
Code:

I've noticed that it is described in NPVR as TechnoTrend BDA/DVB-S Tuner. The windows device manager describes it as TT-budget S2-3200(BDA). ISTR that in GBPVR, we had to tell it to use the TT S1500 driver to talk to this card. Is it possible that whatever NPVR is doing to drive the card is not recognizing as an S2.

My PCTV 460e is also an S2 card and that tunes and plays the BBC HD channels just fine.

Any suggestions?

Support for DVB-S2 cards is limited. Most manufacturers use their own proprietary tuning for this, so GBPVR/NPVR has no way to tune to these types of frequencies.

The only DVB-S/S2 devices confirmed to have worked for DVB-S2 channels are the Hauppauge HVR-4000/4400/5500, the TBS 6981, and the TSB 5980. Other modern S2 devices that do auto pilot/rolloff will probably work, but we dont know exactly which cards they are (apparently several of the TBS card). I'm guessing the TT S2-3200 is not one of those.

Bummer. Oh well at least the PCTV 460e works properly, so you can add that to your list of confirmed working, well at least in the UK.

I found someone on another site (mediaportal) succesfully using this card for BBC HD after the changeover. These are the settings they used for the card

<Transponder>
<CarrierFrequency>10847000</CarrierFrequency>
<Polarisation>LinearV</Polarisation>
<SymbolRate>23000</SymbolRate>
<Modulation>ModQpsk</Modulation>
<InnerFecRate>Rate8_9</InnerFecRate>
<Pilot>NotSet</Pilot>
<Rolloff>NotSet</Rolloff>
</Transponder>

The key one seemed to be ModQpsk. Is there somewhere that I can set that for NPVR?
