Hey everyone. I'm a SageTV refugee looking forward to switching to nPVR.

I have the server installed and my HDPVR devices working. Next up is configuring my USB-UIRT to control the cable boxes from nPVR. I know I saw information on that somewhere, but I can't find it now.

How do get the USB-UIRT to show up as a channel changing device? How do I configure the USB-UIRT for two zones?

TIA

There is no built-in integration with the USB-UIRT, but others are successfully using USB-UIRT for changing channels on their set top box with NPVR. There is a few options for how you do it. I think people usually use either HIP or IR Server Suite. ie, learn the remote in those apps, then configure the executable channel changer to use the appropriate blaster utility (ie, HipSend.exe or IRBlast.exe).

I can confirm that HIP works well with USBUIRT. Make sure you get v4.x of HIP if you are running or planning to run Windows 7.

Thanks for the input. I use EventGhost for my clients (my SageTV clients, soon to be nPVR clients), and so am familiar with it. I'm using that now on my server as well to control the IR from nPVR.

I use USBUIRTSEND.exe a great little tool that works with a Pronto generated IR Code file.

C:\Program Files\NPVR\ChanChg\USBUIRTSend.exe

"C:\Program Files\NPVR\ChanChg\IRDefs\HKNowBB YX-5218A.dat" {channel}

You can use the USBUIRT lrnhelper prog to learn the IR Codes 0-9 and Enter.
There are probably IR code dat (just a txt file) files on the web too.
