BlueRetroVE+ also uses this option to change from Vertical to Horizontal MainMenu layout & it works fine.

rkircher appears to have something wrong with his setup, in the SearchLite thread he mentioned the new FindAll & Watched indicators are also not working as well as the MainMenu preferred style & these are all new things added in 2.0.3!

I'm pretty sure the skin directory he is using doesnt have the FindAll.xml or the Horizontal.xml/Vertical.xml, which are all new in the latest release. The most likely reason for this is that he isnt using the default skin, but some other skin that hasnt been updated.

From his messages in the SearchLite thread he thinks he is running the default skin from 2.0.3 but I agree he has something wrong as it's not finding the new skin files.

Thanks to everyone for responses to message numbers 125 to 133, give or take a few. I think I have everything corrected and working. In general, it all boils down to how I am solving truncation problems by replacing and trying to manage 4x3 skins thru upgrades. I have learned that I must use a different directory other than Skin\Default to preserve .xml files thru an upgrade, so that is what I did. My last upgrade was 2.0.3. Then I installed the latest SearchLite plugin available after 2.0.3, and also replaced it's skin to solve the same truncation problem in SearchLite.

As a result of all the helpful responses 125 to 133, I found that I had the latest FindAll.xml, Horizontal.xml, and Vertical.xml files, but did not know where they were located (in the Skin\Default directory). When I copied them into the corresponding directories in my Skin\MySkins directory everything started working again. I did not know what Settings => General => UI Resolution: "Auto" meant and that added to my confusion.

To help avoid getting lost in a future upgrade, can anybody tell me how to determine what is effected by and upgrade, and what new changes and their files are added by the upgrade? For example,
1. In upgrade 2.0.3, I had no idea that the FindAll.xml file was added, or where it was located, and therefore did not know it had to be copied to some sub-directory in Skin\MySkins directory.
2. Likewise, I'm new to NPVR and did not know that the Main Menu Horz/Vert was added. I thought I had discovered something that was there all along in Settings and simply was not working. Not knowing what was added by 2.0.3 made it very difficult to finally determine why the Vertical Main Menu was not working.
3. I realize that NPVR is still being improved and must present a configuration nightmare to the developers, but it also makes it very difficult for a New User to know what to look for after an upgrade without some sort of Revision Record or Installation Log.

I am trying to ask for a Revision Log or some other way to determine what files in the Skin\Default directory I need to copy into my Skin\MySkins directory after an upgrade so that I can preserve my skin preferences, get newly added functions working, and take advantage of new features that might have been added. This is particularly true for new functions like the Find All that I thought was added by SearchLite, not the 2.0.3 upgrade. My face will be red if their is an update log for a revision, and I did not find it, but something like that would sure help me a lot in resolving confusion and problems that come up after an upgrade. In any case, thanks for all the help and the great NPVR software.

The TV Guide was working fine. Then one day it showed "no show details" for about 1/3 of the channels. For example channel 9.1, 9.2, 9.3 which is a major network channel (ABC)l with callsign WFTV-HD, WFTV-WX, and WFTV-3. I looked in the xmltv.tv.xml file and it is updating properly. I searched the file for "WFTV" (and others), and they are all in the xmltv.xml file. From the TV Guide, I can click Watch TV and there is reception so I don't think there is a problem with the tuner card. The problem effects 18 channels all together out of the 50 channels we can receive over the air. I just installed the latest NPVR version 2.1.5 replacing the previous 2.0.3, but it not correct the problem. What could be causing this problem, or what can I do to trouble-shoot and fix it?

I'm guessing its because the names or ids have changed slightly in your xmltv files.

Hit 'update epg' then post the npvr.log and I'll take take a look.

I attempted to attach npvr.log to this message and the Manage Attachments window gave me a message that said:

"Upload Errors
npvr.log - Invalid File"

I think it is too big to paste in-line into this message. What am I doing wrong?

I just noticed attachments must have a .txt filename extension. Will try that.....
It did not work either:

"Upload Errors
npvr.log.txt - Your file of 156.0 KB bytes exceeds the forum's limit of 19.5 KB for this filetype."

You need to zip them.

OK, I ran 'Update EPG' about 2-hours ago. The zipped npvr.log is attached. Thanks

The only listings that matched the mapped channels in your database were:

Quote:2011-07-12 10:42:02.593 [DEBUG][5] Loading XMLTV from: C:\Documents and Settings\dick\My Documents\xmltv.xml
2011-07-12 10:42:16.687 [DEBUG][5] channelEventLists.Count=5
2011-07-12 10:42:16.687 [INFO][5] -channel: 'WESH-DT' has 392 listings
2011-07-12 10:42:16.687 [INFO][5] -channel: 'WX Plus' has 499 listings
2011-07-12 10:42:16.687 [INFO][5] -channel: 'WKCF-DT' has 484 listings
2011-07-12 10:42:16.687 [INFO][5] -channel: 'this' has 270 listings
2011-07-12 10:42:16.687 [INFO][5] -channel: 'WOFL-DT' has 482 listings

If there were other channels in the file that you think should have also been pulled into NPVR, then their names have changed in the file since the time they were originally mapped. For these you'll need to double cloick on each channel in Settings->Channels, then reselect the appropriate channel. After remapping, do an update epg.
