DVD playback does not work (blank screen and no audio)

There is nothing wrong with the codecs, ffdshow and mpc decorders works well if I get the DVD playing! To get the DVD playing, I need to do the following:
- Select DVD
- Wait for blank screen (takes a few seconds)
- Press enter once (nothing is displayed)
- Press home once (unless the DVD menu is already displayed)

The disc seem to have some kind of empty title in the beginning, and NPVR stops there. Also it fails to display the question about resuming playback in that case. On weekend I'll post a small DVD image recorded with the Sony device if somebody wants to check what is the actual problem in NPVR. Most other players do not have any problems to automatically display the menu when starting the DVD.

But did you try to play a standard commercial DVD?

Hello again, and sorry for the delay. Finally got time to obtain blank discs, and then I could record a few seconds of TV with this Sony HD/DVD recorder for testing. The ISO image is now available for download (link below, zipped 8.41 MB). Any virtual drive software can be used to to reproduce the problem.

There is some incompatibility with the navigation with these discs. Does NPVR get stuck to some "blank" title in the beginning, and fails to display the menu? Other software (e.g. PowerDVD, WinDVD, MediaPortal) and (at least tested) desktop players do not suffer from this problem. The worst thing is that the question about resuming playback will not be visible, so the user must answer to it blindly with arrows and Enter key - before the Home key can be used to access the menu.

I am not saying that the these recorded discs are typical DVD discs or typical to (Sony) desktop recorders but I just expect that the target of NPVR is to work with many types of media (whenever feasible).

@Reddwarf No, I haven't tested with a commercial DVD and I don't have time to do it now. But now I believe that NPVR will play such disc as expected, and the problem is related only to (some) specific navigation structure(s).
