Being the other side of the pond it's hard for the regular wiki authors to write one or even know what's a common setup (capture card, TV source, EPG source etc).

If you can answer the questions above and/or or interested in helping out with a walkthrough for typical US or Canadian NextPVR setups then please post below (or PM me if you're shy Smile )

I think that it would be great for us to get some nice step-by-step instructions for US users--especially with the new CableCard devices. It can be a bit tricky, but is a really nice solutions once things are all setup.

I'm willing to help out with project. Both with helping to supply instructions and with testing instructions on "clean" setups (probably VMs).

I have a test rig that I don't mind rebuilding as an example - however, this rig runs XP SP3, so it would serve as an example to legacy users (I'm too cheap to buy win 7 yet). It's running an HVR-1600, so I can demo OTA/ATSC setup, clear QAM setup on cable, analog setup on cable (yeah, my cable still has some), and maybe hooking up a DTA to analog.

I can help as well, I've done two recent setups and found wiki lacking in a couple of places for a US user. NPVR is not as intuitive for me as for others, it seems, so a more step-by-step approach would be helpful.

I was thinking of helping but now I am too afraid that johnsonx42 will close the thread if I offer any opinions or suggestions.

Specificly?

What I'm really after is details of the most common setups (capture card, TV source, EPG source etc), so a walkthourgh or two can be created to cover them. See the UK one here as an example.

Having looked at the walkthroughs on the wiki, I think a couple of setup types are needed at minimum: clear QAM setup on cable, and Colossus/HD-PVR setup on a cable STB. I can do these for Comcast cable w/ SchedulesDirect EPG. However, the Colossus/HD-PVR requires a blaster or firewire for channel changing - I can do firewire, but I have no experience with blaster setup.

Great. If you'd like to take a stab at a clear QAM walkthrough go ahead.

Can create a new wiki page yourself or provide a Word document which a wiki guru can convert - whatever's easiest.

I'm familiar with the wiki from working on the Hauppauge remote entry. I'll start on clear QAM by using the DVB-T walkthrough as a template.
