Not sure if this as an mvpmcx2 issue or an NPVR one so I'll post here.

Difficult to quantify but we have issues with every recording when played back on the PCH where we can skip forward fine during earlier parts of the recording but, later on, a skip forward will drop playback to the recordings menu.

OK, sounds weird but, for example, some channels have advert breaks every 10 minutes - with a 1 hour recording I can skip without problems 10,20,30 minutes into the recording but around the 40 minute mark, a single skip forward will drop back to Recordings - then again at ~50 minutes. I never seem to get dropouts at the earlier stages however.

Similarly weird, a 2 hour recording will usually behave when skipping well into the second hour but around 1hr 15mins - 1hr 20mins that's when trouble starts. In other words skipping at 40mins or 50mins behaves fine.

I've included the log of trying to skip an episode of Marple tonight around 1hr 16mins into it. The problem starts with...

Code:
2011-09-10 23:10:00.113    [DEBUG][3]    User pressed: Right

...and shows the dropout to the Recordings menu at...

Code:
2011-09-10 23:10:04.894    [DEBUG][3]    Recordings.RELOAD_RECORDINGS

I've attached the timing.info file as well.

The worst bit is attempting to get back to where I was watching - I often find Resume will work but with a timeline starting at 0:0:0 or Play actually resumes (again with 0:0:0 start for timeline). I end up having to Unwatch, Play, Stop, Play then skip X minutes to get back to where I was....my wife hasn't got the hang of that yet.

Cheers,
Brian

I can't do much without the mvpmcx2 client side logs. I will definitely need the matching web.log.

There's an impossible situation here since mvpmcx2 can't send a -PTS

2011-09-10 23:19:42.287 [DEBUG][3] Raw PTS received:-181422000

Could you provide the first 200MB of this file showhow?

Oops - I thought there was something else I should have included. Attached web.log.

Yes, I spotted the negative PTS / time offsets too but not sure what to make of them.

I'll see if I can upload the first 200MB of the file to my webspace ASAP.

Sub can you explain the Timing.Info that bgowland uploaded. Normally the samples are written every .9 seconds or so, but his are much slower for the first 30 seconds or so. It looks like you write every 250KB, this is probably the lowest bitrate file I have seen.

The entries are written to the timing info if it's been more than about 900ms since the last entry was written, but it'll only every write new entries when it receives a packet from the capture device, so if no patch was received between 900ms and 1200ms, then the gap would be 1200ms.

Ok, I will write this off to bgowland's ultra low bitrate.

The channel (ITV 3) is on one of our 64QAM MUXs which carry lower bitrate streams. Two hours amounts to about 1.6GB for that recording whereas I often see that for a one hour recording on other channels (BBC ONE for example).

I've PM'd you a link for the 200MB chunk and copied sub in.

Thanks, I have it and I'm playing it now. The quality is better than my high bit rate analog recording ever where and the 16:9 flag is set too. I'm jealous.
