So far, I can't say I'm excited about this one.

I hope they get it up on technet soon, I'm currious to what's changed besides the new metro UI.

It's already available for download. I downloaded it a few hours ago from Microsoft and have it on a test machine here.

Cool, I wasn't expecting it until at least next month, I guess I'll go d/l it now and throw it on a VM.

Not finding it. maybe not avialable to for standard subs.

I checked Technet too and I think it may be awhile before it pops up there.
I'm not a huge fan of touch screens so I hope it's 100% mouse friendly. Based on MS's experience with OS's, with a dud every few releases, I don't hold much hope. ME and Vista left a bad taste in my mouth though it was Vista when I first tested cablecards for MS and at least as a tester, they kept giving us builds of Vista that were less likely to blue screen.

Here's a bit more info---

You don't need a TechNet account to get it. It's available to anyone:

i3-3570k, 8GB RAM, Win10 Pro, Nvidia GT710, HDHomeRun (OTA), NPVR 6.x
On a clear disk, you can seek forever...

Windows 8 sucks.

Sorry, but i dislike it's behaviour ... touchscreen? Tiles? Perhaps in front of an 24" / 27" / 32" TFT? Old Desktop as standard only usable, if you make it within group policies?

It looks like a very, very poor attempt to migrate Windows Phone, Android and Windows. Have this one running within VirtualBox (3D functions available).

It was awful, that microsoft removed in Vista the oldschool searchfunction. It was a pain, that Win 7 brought a lot of bugs with energymanagement. But Windows 8 is ... really, i don't find the real words for this.

Sorry redmond, this time no money from SD. Smile

I hate the new start button that keeps dragging you back into metro, and the ugly ribbon at the top of the file Explorer. The new metro development stuff also doesnt lend itself well towards video playback from directshow etc, so I doubt we'll be seeing NextPVR-metro any time soon.

Yeah, and if you point your mousepointer down/left of the startbutton, a kontextmenu pops up. If you choose anything out of this (settings, devices) then a green border on the right slides in. It looks ugly, not just the choosed colours ... the whole design is painful.
And SUCH a big ribbon bar on top of the windows explorer, but none "oldschool" searchfunction (like in Win 2k/XP) where i could choose details for searching ... just a lot of unneeded functions, which would be used by shortcuts (copy, paste etc).

At least for me there's no need for a "Windows 8 NextPVR", just because Windows 8 will definitvely not run on any of my (currently) 8 PCs/2 Notebooks.
