Are you sure? There's an icon next to all of the sub-forums in 'Add-ons' which suggests that they're 'branched' for want of a better word.

Yes, it is definitely a subforum of 'GBPVR (Legacy)'. As an example, I create another example sub level forum under 'add-ons' at the same depth as legacy. It shows there without that subforum symbol.

There maybe some setting that I can change in vbulletin to force it to not automatically show these subforums at the top. The default settings are definitely showing them though. I'll have a browser through the admin tool to see if I can find anything.

My two plugin support sub-forums are now stuck in Legacy. Do I like this change, esthetically yes, in practical terms no. That extra layer has everything I dislike about the MVP/NMT and Documentation forums. I would like to explain how I support things and it might it explain why I don't like this change

I would like to see the plugin thread right after NPVR though.

My preference is to use getnew to read change but I logon/off from too many machines so use this to advantage. After that I have another bookmark with getdaily, which forces me to respond quickly. Ater that I end up having to drill down in all kind of forums which is a royal pain, I've often missed posts simply because they are buried. This is why I explained I am tending to use the main plugin forum as a garbage can, at least I can read top down.

So what structure would you want to see for the add-ons forums?

You mention not liking having an extra layer like you get in Documentation. I was explicitly trying to get rid of that extra layer by effectively moving all the npvr plugin/skin/utilities stuff up to the top level. At the same time I was trying to push the old out of date stuff into a legacy sub forum out of the way. Most plugins/skins/utilities aren't going to get a lot of posts, so they can probably be lumped into this top level together. It'll also give more visibility of them. I do realise some plugins generate too much traffic to be lumped in with the others though, like NEWA, so there are probably still some plugins that'll need a separate subforum. Thoughts?

Sub, don't get me wrong, I do like it better especially the quick links on the main forum, supporting MusicBox4, WebRadio and Universe via Legacy is what I am not sure about. Maybe I will just close them and refer to the generic sub-forum. I certainly will be interested in feedback for others now and I appreciate your hard work on this.

Yeah, I'm going to need feedback from you guys who'll be using that area. I'm not really sure what the best layout would be, and it'll be easier for me to make changes now rather than 6 months down the track.

How about moving the legacy add-ons stuff into the GBPVR forum (as a sub forum). Just amass everything there in one place. Then we'll be starting with a much cleaner slate for the new add-ons forum, because at the moment when you go in there you're faced with a ton of subforums for all the old plugins.

I'd then move GBPVR down to the very bottom of the main page - below even general discussion, to try and de-emphasise it. And that's coming from someone who still uses it over NPVR

For my stuff, I'd be better off turning my community announcement threads into just that - an announcement - and then link through to a support thread in the add-ons section. I can probably do that with the existing ones and then get someone to close/lock them.

In terms of how I read the forums though, I'm much the same as Martin, preferring to use getnew/getdaily to see everything that's been posted, even if I don't dive into each and every thread.

If we keep this layout I'd do the same announce and log. I just got a Universe support post via it's legacy sub-sub forum and I am still am torn about closing those forums that were working before and redirecting everyone to the garbage can. The problem is I don't want sub-sub forums

I think something along these lines would be really good to help clear out and delineate between GB-PVR and NextPVR.

I hear everyone but just as a comment, these things should not just be dev driven, there has to be some end-user input

My choices for users for my plugins remain consistent. Choose between the previous method with one level of sub-menu (which I felt worked pretty well) or the new generic folder approach. I have given my reasons why I will not support sub-sub-forums.
