It seems that when resuming a DVD (VIDEO_TS folder on HD) from client PCs that the resume point is local, not global. That is, it resumes at the point where it was stopped on that client PC instead of sharing the resume point with other client PCs as it seems to do for all other video types.

That is the way it is supposed to work. It would be hell is I'v watched a recording up to one point on my batcave client and my wife to another point on the server and npvr didn't keep trach of that Big Grin

In the Video Library the database search is on the filename so unless you configure the file as a share with the same mapped drive or UNC name on both the client and server, the resume points won't match.

This is the case - both client PCs are playing from the same network drive (UNC). Maybe it has to do with how NPVR treats several files as a "DVD" since it is sharing the resume point properly with single file videos (recordings and mkv movies)?

Your logs will show what filename is being used with PlaybackPositionHelper.StorePlaybackPosition(...) Do they look the same?

Yes, they are exactly the same, however, there appears to be 2 calls to StorePlaybackPosition:

Code:

The position helper stuff isnt used for DVDs, since just knowing the playback position isnt enough for a resume. We instead have to use a Microsoft API that stores the playback state to a file, then we can later use that file to restore the playback state from. Unfortunately this file is not visble from a client PC. (behind the scene's this uses alternate data streams that isnt visible over shared directories)
