NRecord.exe activates HDHomerun Prime overnight

I have stopped using NEXTPVR because I get up in the morning and the NRecord.exe has activated a channel on the HDHomerun Prime. I have never setup any recordings and seldom used NEXTPVR to actually watch TV. I have noticed this happening on both my Vista and XP notebooks.

Has anyone else seen this?

I will post logs latter after recreating the problems.

Could it be holding on to the tuner from updating the free to air epg? Mine did that for a while and if I recall, upgrading the hdhomerun firmware to the latest level fixed it.

I think NPVR defaults to waking up your PC for an EPG update nightly, and it depends on your PC automatically going to sleep. You can turn this off on the Misc2 tab by setting the EPG Update Hour to None.

The OP has a Prime which does not work with OTA. That said:

@OP, are you sure that it's NRecord activating the Prime? If so, that means that you have at least one channel that is enabled on the Prime with the EPG set to "DVB/ATSC" as bassic suggested. Also remember that Windows Media Center runs a background channel scan once a day to check for channels that have moved.

The issue is assoicated with an EPG update as shown in the logs.

I have the latest software for the hdhomerun prime as I was having the problem with receiver in wmc crashing.

I don't have any recordings scheduled and I don't have any epg setup.

I have set the EPG Update Hour to None. But this raised two questions:

1. Can Nextpvr use the EPG data from the HDHOMERUN PRIME? I have been looking for a way to get tv guide information for NEXTPVR but the only option, here is U.S., appeared to be Schedule Direct and I don't want to pay for their service.

2. After updating the EPG data shouldn't the tuner on the HDHOMERUN PRIME be released? This is not happening.

No.

I'm pretty sure some users also using mc2xml, which gets it's info from the Microsoft web servers (or can be configured to use Schedules Direct if you have an account).

Yes, it should. Your best bet is to make sure no channels are configured to use the DVB/ATSC EPG, then it wont event look at the device during EPG updates.

I dont really have much in the way of future plans or formal roadmap, so not really anything I can post. I pretty much follow just follow nose for each release. I typically have a handful of bigger ticket items that I'd like to include in the next release - of which some are usually done, and some are put in the "too hard" or "too time consuming" basket. The remainder of the release is typically made of smaller changes people have requested during the release cycle, and bug fixes for problems that have been identified.

When the next release will be?

I'm not sure yet. I usually do a release about every 3 or 4 months, and patches in between. That would typically be about now. Unfortunately I've been quite busy in the last couple of months with day job stuff, so I'm not at the stage I'd like to be for the next release. I do have a release mostly ready, and I probably would have start pre-release testing about now, but I'm going to unexpectedly have to travel for work late next week (for two weeks), so it's probably not great timing.
