I am gathering that Sub is working to a new release that may cover a few issues that I, and notice that others are having. I have viewed in a few threads and sense that he is past fixing current release issues, as the new build has changes that cannot be applied to the current release.

My current problems are:
- fast forward, pause, rewind, without a wait time to recover, whether live or recorded.
- comskip inconsistency, may not be from Sub's work!

Wishes:
- Option to save recordings in .mp4 format, so I can view on a Roku box. Yeah it is me again!

I have dug deep into getting this app to do what I want for me, and appreciate the documentation updates on the wiki. Very nice!

If you remind me after the next release, I can help you work through these if they're still an issue.

Sorry, but I doubt you'd ever see this. Recording to .mp4 files would require licensing of 3rd party components (costing $$$), and wouldn't allow playback while recording, so isn't really practical for this project. I'm pretty sure the application will only ever record digital channels as original broadcast transport stream.

Figures that companies all want compensation for their work. Really like what Ioanship did for Roku conversion, but it eliminated consistency in nvpr's functionality, dropping many recordings. As you may gather I have changed face and built an htpc for main viewing area. I have lost the ability to view recordings in bedroom via Roku box but needed consistency in recordings. I have configured most plugins to do as designed, but still not perfect.

You are aware that you can use a call in PostProcessing.bat to convert your recording to mp4?

Yes, I have been all through this. Within the conversion process, concurrent recordings and nPVR's recording service were very inconsistent. Many recordings were lost and I lost more hairs out of my balding head. I had to change my approach and give up on the Roku for now. Htpc system is stable, and I can now pursue other plugin issues, which I have made separate thread/posts on.

I don't understand, why should a conversion process (say using FFMPEG) cause you to lose recordings? And what exactly do you mean by "Within the conversion process, concurrent recordings and nPVR's recording service.."? The conversions does not have anything with the recording service?

I was using Handbrake, and believe that the cpu taxing process caused the system to slow and cause problems. There may be other solutions, but am tired of missed recordings. I wish to address this issue again, but have little time to tinker and diagnose, let alone use the trial and error approach. I am enjoying nPVR being stable and being able to address other issues.

In the old wiki, there was an excellent example of how to use FFMPEG or MENCODER to convert a recording in the background, can anyone point to that wiki or is it gone now?

Conversion will tax CPU no ifs or buts. Running Mencoder from a batch will let you dial back the parameters to reduce file size and CPU load to your liking.

I am there.. A shame though to hook up my netbook to mbr tv via newa to watch recordings done by npvr. Only choice I have! The .mp4 conversion process is not a solution, just a nuisance as it screws up the whole process.. I have tinkered with client npvr and might need to dig deeper as I am having a difficult time in getting it to work properly.
