If someone wanted to add some bling to their NextPVR setup. On which screens does it support cover art, thumbnails, fanart and the like?

You didn't just happen to come home from your work's Christmas party did you? I think I might have a vague angle on what I'm assuming you might be asking but in reality it doesn't seem too clear. Smile

Actually I was watching the Royal Variety Performance. Maybe I should not be lazy and ask more specific questions.

What I'm after is a list of all the places where NextPVR can show images, where do they come from, and what format and naming style should they be.

Examples:
* The Video and Music library plugins looks for files named folder.jpg or default.jpg [or .png] and if found will display them as a directory thumbnails. For individual video files, a .png or .jpg with same name as video file, placed in same directory as video file will be it's thumbnail. Or if it's specified in .xml file as coverart.
* NextPVR has the ability to display TV Show Art on the recordings screen and OSD. It looks for image files in a Media\Shows\ directory under the data directory with the same name as the show. Note that the file name must exactly match the show name.

What about fanart for videos?
What about fanart for music?
Does NextPVR look for any type of embedded art in music files?

Can the TV guide support any type of showart?
What is the recommended size and aspect ratio for music coverart?

I can answer the fanart for videos will display a fanart.jpg as a default fanart for the folder and I could have sworn that it read the filename-fanart.jpg as well but upon my double checking it is not doing that. Also the folder.jpg seems to be the thumbnail for all the videos in the folder if they do not have their own file specified. The recommended size and aspect ratio of fanart I would image to be the size and aspect of your TV. The rest of those I will leave for those more knowledgeable than I.

If you want some pics and plots for videos I use Ember Media Manager

But create an *.nfo file to scape
eg

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049406/

save it in notepad as "the killing(1956).nfo"
and be sure the name of video MATCHES

For sizes, I think it is user preference more than one standard. Bigger files look better but render a little slower and take more disk space.

From themoviedb. some of the images I can get for 2001: A Space Odyssey run the gamut from thumbs to covers to poster

Code:
<image type="poster" url="http://cf2.imgobject.com/t/p/w92/dofAGi4y9dxzU5HNP41BZO0v4dP.jpg" size="thumb" width="92" height="138" id="4ea5cc492c058837cb000117"/>
        <image type="poster" url="http://cf2.imgobject.com/t/p/w154/dofAGi4y9dxzU5HNP41BZO0v4dP.jpg" size="w154" width="154" height="231" id="4ea5cc492c058837cb000117"/>
        <image type="poster" url="http://cf2.imgobject.com/t/p/w185/dofAGi4y9dxzU5HNP41BZO0v4dP.jpg" size="cover" width="185" height="278" id="4ea5cc492c058837cb000117"/>
        <image type="poster" url="http://cf2.imgobject.com/t/p/w342/dofAGi4y9dxzU5HNP41BZO0v4dP.jpg" size="w342" width="342" height="513" id="4ea5cc492c058837cb000117"/>
        <image type="poster" url="http://cf2.imgobject.com/t/p/w500/dofAGi4y9dxzU5HNP41BZO0v4dP.jpg" size="mid" width="500" height="750" id="4ea5cc492c058837cb000117"/>
        <image type="poster" url="http://cf2.imgobject.com/t/p/original/dofAGi4y9dxzU5HNP41BZO0v4dP.jpg" size="original" width="1000" height="1500" id="4ea5cc492c058837cb000117"/>

Backdrops or fanart are usually full screen aspect ratio and 1280x720 or 1920x1080

There is no need to create the nfo or rename NextPVR movie files (at least in North America), imageGrabLite will get the art for you and rename based on the EPG Name and Original Air Date that sub gets now.

Martin,
I'm not talking about programs or televised movies but rather video library contents (dnlded movies, TV programs or ripped dvds)
