I attempted to Record Season (NEW episodes on this channel) but it decided that none of the shows met its' requirements.
Why is this? Does this only apply to the an EPG that flags programmes as new?

2012-01-18 22:31:18.299 [INFO][1] UpdateRecurringRecording(156, 'Outcasts'):

So then I asked to record all episodes which worked ok.

Unless you're your using an EPG source that explicitly identifies whether a show is new or a repeat, then the app always treats the shows as 'new'. Looking at your log snippet, it looks like it's scheduled two episodes:

gEd your database doesn't have the info needed to use this feature.

No that was when I selected record all episodes. The first log entry was for all new episodes and it reported
2012-01-18 22:31:18.599 [DEBUG][1] - Potential episode at: 19/01/2012 22:30:00

2012-01-18 22:31:18.599 [DEBUG][1] ...doesnt match recurring rules

Not a biggie but if ones EPG doesn;t support this feature, it might be nice to be able to enable/disable it (either manually or automatically) so other family members don't accidentally use it and end up missing recordings.

Hmm, it should work fine for anyone, even if their EPG doesnt provide this info. It is supposed to assume that all episodes are new, unless it knows they're not.

Have you done an 'update epg' since installing the new build? If not, its possible this could cause it to think episodes are old. In this case, do an 'update epg' and try again.

yep, one ran this morning but I ran another just to be sure and still the show doesn't record if I select NEW episodes.

log and db attached.

New doesn't mean New for the database. gEd does have lots of FIRST_RUN = N in his database, including both his Outcasts which technically aren't new (they were previously aired) so maybe his EPG data is good.

Yes, I've seen he has shows in the database that indicate they're not first runs.

gEd, can you zip and attach your xmltv file?

gEd, there is two episodes of Outcasts in your xmltv file, and both of them have the "<previously-shown />" tag indicating they are not new airings, so it seems to be doing the right thing.
