Hi,

I've set up a few groups but seem to have come across a potential bug. After watching a channel in one of my new groups, it returns to the guide and shows the "all channels" group BUT it only shows the number of channels in my generated group. Its hard to explain so here's an example:

I have a News group which has 3 channels in it - BBC News, SKY News and BBC Parliment. So i select that group and the relevant guide is displayed. I then select BBC News and watch it for a bit. I then click exit and it returns to the Guide but shows me BBC One, BBC Two and BBC Three (the first 3 channels from the full guide).

I've tried it with a few others and it always does the same thing.

I take it nobody else has seen this problem then? I'll try recreating the groups from scratch and see what happens.

Not quite but I see a bug that is probably related, after I stop video, it goes back to the All Channels group but I get all of them back. None of my groups have only 3 channels, I know there are some limitations in NextPVR with small lists.

Yes, I can reproduce the exact problem R1Dave has described, and what Martin described is (as he says) likely related.

Also....

It would be nice #1: have a setting for "Default Channel Group" that is selected whenever TV Guide (or F1) is launched from the main menu. Currently it just loads whatever group was last used. On returning to the same instance of the TV Guide after watching a channel, it should stay with the last selected group.

I would be nice #2: surf channels according to the selected group. So if I have a group set up for Sports, I could just surf among the sports channels without bringing up the guide. Currently it surfs all channels regardless of the selected group.

The combination of those two features would allow me to have a wider range of channels enabled in NPVR, and then have a "Regular Channels" default group that is always seen unless the "All Channels" group is explicitly selected. I've got a number of odd channels that I've left out because I don't want mostly-useless channels cluttering my guide, but every now and then there might be something worth watching.

It loads whatever group was last used, as long as you don't exit the program. Once you exit, it starts with the All Channels group.

And I would agree, this would be REALLY nice. Like you, I have a number of channels which are seldom if ever used, but just might be, so I keep them around.

This is because I forgot to add a setting in config.xml. It'll remember it between runs if you add <LastChannelGroup>All Channels</LastChannelGroup> to the <General> section of config.xml.

This should fix the original problem.

That does fix the bug.

It doesn't seem to fix my problem. It always falls back to All channels after watching a show. I didn't add the XML section though because I don't want to save my preference between runs.

If you add the XML section, it then will fall back to the same group when you return from watching a show. But as you observe, then it will also keep the same group when you exit and restart again. I'm not sure which behavior least undesirable. I'm probably just not going to use Channel Groups until it behaves better.

Sorry sub, this is the "no good deed goes unpunished" part of adding a new feature.
