The SetThreadExecutionState stuff is definitely in NPVR, but it can only "request" that the system stays awake. If the user - or even another program - decides to force a sleep then there's nothing NPVR can do about that.

Note also my earlier comment about the MCE Standby Tool. It has an option in it to force a sleep (after a wakeup) if it thinks the EPG update from MCE was finished. That was causing me problems because MCE obviously isn't running, so the tool thought "fine, back to sleep it is then", even though NPVR was busy recording at the time.

I just tried parallelprocessing.bat with a simple batch-file. When I double-click it, it works like it should.
When starting a recording the batch-files doesn't execute, but in the logs I see "Starting: C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Scripts\ParallelProcessing.bat".
Any suggestions?

I don't have MCE Standby Tool either. And as far as I can see, nothings asks the pc to go asleep, other then the power management sleep function.
I hope my suggestion POWERCFG -REQUESTSOVERRIDE PROCESS is a good workaround, but can't get the parallelprocessing.bat to work like it should.

I have had several problems with my NextPVR server recently mostly in the hours after an EPG update. Some were associated with a reboot I scheduled for 02:30 just after the EPG update. It seems to have sometimes done a reboot at far later times at the start of a recording and yesterday the server shut down at 02:35 instead of making a scheduled recording. So yesterday I cancelled the reboot and today I find that the server still woke at 02:30 and went to sleep at 02:35. Vista does a System Restore (SR) point at 02:30!! Looking back at the logs the server seems to usually reboot at just after 02:30 but sometimes several hours later the next time the server wakes.

It seems as if Windows sometimes misses scheduled events that coincide with another event like SR but some of my settings made matters worse. I forgot to specify that the computer should “Wake” to run my “Reboot” event but that didn’t actually matter because it already “Woke” at the required time to run SR task. My “Reboot” batch file first checked if NextPVR was recording and if it is waits a minute and checks again every minute until no recording is being made then runs a “Reboot” command. The idea was if a recording was being made to reboot at the end of the recording. If for some reason Windows fails to run the “Reboot” event the default setting is to try again every minute which is why the event sometimes happened as late as 10am on one occasion.

This explains some of my problems but the SR task is a bit strange. It is set to run at midnight but also runs at 22:00 and 02:30 although it is not obvious why. Also this event is not set to “Wake” the computer but it certainly wakes my computer at 02:30 every day.

I have seen the same thing here (for one recording only)

In the logs at 19:18:24.542 on 29/01 I scheduled a recording for 9pm that night.
In the recordings screen, it showed as "service not running at recording time"

At 20:57:30.931 the logs tell me the system was going into standby.
I have 2 minutes of prepadding, so would have thought the system would stay awake at that time.

Yesterday evening I tried to record a already started show. I watched to see if a waketimer was set in windows and it wasn't.
Then I saw that the recording service hadn't started at all!
Even stranger, there was a conflict with another show but no "conflicts" were reported either.

I had a lot of problems fixing the database, before everything functioned normally again.

Attached logs, screenshots, db3-file and waketimer.

"EHBO: Eerste hulp bij opvoeden" was already programmed (recurring) and I wanted to record "Bounce" which was already playing.
