I need the recordings to be in the following format: SeriesName}_EpisodeName_RecordDate.ts (spaces are allowed) I was reading the wiki, and it looks like manual record can kinda do this, but I don't have "man rec" in the hidden menu. any ideas, or a methodology to change the recording name?

There is nothing built in for specifying the filename format. I think there are some utilities written by others that try to do this (in postprocessing.bat), but I've never tried them.

if you move the mouse to the top of the Recordings screen, you'll see the Manual Recording option. You can get there with the remote too, I think you just keep pressing up.

however, I don't think that's going to give you any custom naming.

you can use the imageGrabLite utility in PostProcessing.bat (see the Community Announcements forum) to automatically rename recordings, though the naming format isn't exactly what you asked for.

NPVR just records what the broadcaster sends. Don't think of NPVR as a video recorder... it writes a digital data stream to the the disk, which just happens to become video later on when you feed it to a video decoder/renderer chain.

Actually my experience is that 1080i OTA ATSC can be more like 6-8GB per hour.

yeah, this week's Big Bang Theory was just over 4GB for only 31 minutes (high quality 1080i).

It looks like my ATSC NBC is 4:3 @ 480p. Oh well, I only use NextPVR to record that channel so no worries.
