New to htpc's

Hi all, just started setting up npvr cos it's to my liking, but need info on certain things i now have riped my dvd's and tv show's i have into .ts file format but i have no idea how to get them looking like they are in the xbmc screen shots (didnt wont to try that cos of no live tv) i know you need plugins but if someone can be very helpful and point me in the direction what i need to get me films and tv shows into npvr,i have live tv and music going only need to sort out me films and tv show.

Not sure if this is what you mean but it will scan for media and add it to the data base

well sorry it is not have you seen xbmc how it imports movies and tv show's that's what im trying to do with npvr is there a plugin that get metadata for films for say imdb or the moviedb websites and for tv shows for the tvdb.com website reseason i choose this cos of live tv is a must, many thanks for your input tho.

Me again nope to that one aswell lol show no one that is using this media center has not setup dvd rips where a plugin can get meta data for with posters and details etc and goes for the same with tv shows (not recorded for live tv i mean riped dvd tv shows where you have them stored in a folder like blade\season 1\then blade 31e1-blah with with me? like xbmc does i have lie tv with the new tv listing plugin all awesome only thing left to do it sort my movies and tv shows out which i spent last weekend riping.

This is driving me madd now lol , ive told where my movies are store now i want the metadat for them and ive told where my tv shows are now i want metadat for them also someone must have done this please help and twit lol

NextPVR can show a wide variety of metadata, in the (eg Video library) for example.

is there a plugin that get metadata for films for say imdb or the moviedb websites and for tv shows for the tvdb.com website reseason i choose this cos of live tv is a must,

NextPVR does not does not search the internet for metadata for media files like Xbox and some others do. There are a number of good tools available which can grab the metadata from sources such as IMDB by using the filename etc of the video file. The ones that people have been using with NextPVR are described on this wiki page. I personally use Media Centre Master.

Thanks for everyones info but i just cant get on with this ,i wanted it to do tv shows archiving ,movies archiving and record and play live tv (well it does that fine) so npvr is really only used for live tv ,so out off the three that ive search is this in the bottom cos the three i've found are xbmc,mediaportal and this npvr ,looks like htpc's are not for me shame cos liked the ideal off archiving tv shows and movies on me hard drive with recorded tv.

Get ember media manager, output <movie>.jpg and <movie>.nfo files and you will be some way to what you want.

Alternatively (warning a plug is coming ) Install Plex on the pvr (or another machine) and use the plex plugin I wrote (here) to get your meta data.

Out of the box there's nothing in npvr to do it, but there are a couple ways to skin this cat.
