Is there a way to record only a specific audio stream in ATSC broadcasts? I occasionally want to keep some ATSC recordings so I trim the pre and post-padding and commercials if any. These broadcasts have two AC3 audio streams, there's a high bit-rate (sometimes 5.1) and a low bit-rate stream. Unless I remove one of the streams the trimmed recording has the two streams merged together in a mess.

I'd prefer to eliminated the step of cutting a stream before trimming. Can NPVR just record a single audio stream? Thanks.

I encounter this in another situation - I sometimes let the kids watch a show from NPVR on my TouchPad using TouchPlayer. Most of the time it works fine, but sometimes the show plays in Spanish. Unfortunately TouchPlayer has no means to choose the audio track. Strangely the kids seem to like watching in Spanish just as much as English (or at least prefer watching in Spanish to not watching), but it would seem reasonable to have the option to only record whatever the default track is (ie, the one NPVR seems to know to choose during playback).

Thanks for the reply Sub.

Johnson, I'm running the files through tsmuxergui.exe. If I gave it some effort I suppose I could set it up for post-processing.

can't you just uncheck the alternate[spanish] audio in tsmuxergui so it isn't kept in the file?

PBS, yes that's what I do now. I was hoping to eliminate that step.

Why since you cut the commercials you have to remux it anyway?

The program I use for trimming the TS files is MPEGvideoWizard. From some reason it wasn't properly demuxing, and remuxing to eliminate an audio stream so I have an additional step. A few months ago I was demuxing with DGindex to get one video and two audio streams then remuxing with TSmuxer to get a file with one video and one audio stream which I'd then trim. That was a big production but hey, it's in the pursuit of knowledge. It's no wonder I've let the unprocessed recordings pile up since then.

I'm not sure why the simpler TSmuxer seems to do the job now. It's possible the earlier recordings contained errors as the antenna I had then was inferior to the one I now use and only DGIndex could handle those errors.
