Here are a couple of old videos showing start up speeds

This original one view is how I work using the configured source, not using the It is marginally slower with HD and a couple of seconds slower with HDMI

and this one (which makes me sad to see this on the A200, because Syabas broke on me just before release) shows HD component really well even with a bit of flickering during the handshaking.

Somewhere past the middle in the black (which is actually no display since no program is controlling the output) after the handshake, I could display a message which would show for about 500ms in your examples a please wait message that I personally would find annoying, just before the end sub could display another message that might show for a second.

I suppose I could put a delay in my autoload script (or you could do it) at the beginning of loading to clear the screen to a black screen & say something like "Please wait NextPVR loading" for a second or so but that seems counter productive to me as it would take an extra second to load up.

Dear all,

so many thanks for input.

Having seen Martin's youtube shots I still think things are taking a time here?

I am thick as usual, don't know what I can do with the equipment I have to speed anything up?

Jaggy, get what you have said but of course if a feedback gives an extra delay then it is counter-productive?

Here is how my screen loads.

forgive the dodgy camera work I was trying to hold camera and do remote at same time!

cheers

Sorry to be a bore. I do hope someone understands what I am saying/getting at, handshake/authentication and protocols aside.

Here is the MVP Boot Up with Martin's mvpmc dongle and NextPVR.

Clean and clear as a whistle, user provided info the whole sequence????

Yes the thread is getting a bit long and you aren't getting it. What mvpmcx2 would be able to show is that brief display that says "Starting Application" during the break between Jaggy's popup and the main screen.

What you aren't getting is that mvpmc has emulation mode embedded in on application and the initialization happens at the beginning well before you launch NextPVR. On the NMT it is exiting the NMT apps, loading mvpmcx2, and then initializing the monitor. At that point it should load the NextPVR screens but now more than ever I am suspecting that you have the wrong resolution setting causing problms. Component requires 3 RCA jacks, composite just one (usually yellow).

Your video is not really a true comparison, it is sort of the worst case NMT boot from full power off vs the MVP from standby, when the NMT returns from standby it is faster than the MVP because it just turns on the display. I am surprised the boot from power on on the NMT was that fast. At one time I considered a loader but Syabas never provided a good launch method for apps.

Plus the two audio cables which means Component=5 total, Composite=3 total.

Thanks all,

I am fully aware of what a component coonnection is. Of what a composite connection is. When I get the chance I will dig out some more cables and try a component connection. Currently this is through an s-video connection not a composite one....

Martin, I am sorry if this thread has got too long.... I do not know what it is that I am 'not getting'?

How do I put an NMT into standby rather than power off?

cheers

From your comments earlier in the thread I thought you were using component, it serves me right for not asking you to following normal process and get the NMT Syntax check. I did give you the SD config.xml settings and if those don't work it means you monitor is really dumb and can't scale very well. I will wait for you to try component before explaining how to get 640x576 to work.

Maybe you are just blogging general comments now, I thought you were still asking for changes.

The power on the remote should just turn on/off the display, your video showed the full NMT reinit sequence with the Popcorn Hour graphic.

I have always had the PCH graphics whenever I press the power button no matter how short a press I do, that is even when I was not using the auto load scripts, it isn't something to with lircd1 is it??

The graphic comes up when you go back to the PCH software, but once I am "back" in the NMT software mine just toggles the display off/on in standby.

Martin.
