Ok this may sound a daft question, but now and again channels move around on transponders from the astra satalites.

As each channel has its own SID is it possible to scan transponders and just update the ones you already have mapped? I find it a pain to rescan clean it all up and then deploy it to the 4 dvb-s tuners I have.

Many thanks

There may be a quicker way, but delete all the channels on 3 of your tuners and then just rescan on the remaining one only. Then reopen the other 3 and the settings will get copied across (because it'll think they're new tuners that have never been set up before).

Does the SID stay the same when a channel moves transponder, or are they only unique within that transponder? If not, I can't see how you could do it - other than by name matching - and that would only work if people didn't rename their channels (I certainly do in more than a few cases).

Saying that, I have been thinking of trying to write something to help with keeping changes to freeview and freesat up to date, but I'm really not sure how automated it could be...

It seems that Freeview boxes aren't very good at handling changes dynamically, but Sky boxes certainly are, but I guess that is down to very proprietary stuff going on.
My Openbox certainly needs rescanning with changes.
