You can download 2.5.9 from http://www.gbpvr.com/NPVRSetup_2_5_9.exe.

If you're new to NextPVR, see the list of pre-requisite software at: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...requisites (directx runtime, visual c++ runtime etc). If you're upgrading from an earlier build, you need to make sure you stop the NextPVR software before installing.
Please post any support issues in the support forum.

This release is a fairly small upgrade from the previous 2.5.5 release. It's largely a rollup of the 2.5.5, plus latest patches, plus changes in the client/server support to allow xbmc clients. From the change log:
Quote:- added support for xbmc clients, using either the official pvr.nextpvr addon with newer Frodo builds of xbmc, or mvallevand's X-NEWA addon.
- fixed an installer issue that could cause a series error messages related to the DataDirectory on first install on clean machine.
- fixed problem with bitrate control on Colossus and HDPVR2 devices.
- hiding "Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder" for audio formats we know are intentionally broken in the decoder
- improved logic for what happens when the recording service is restarted during a recording. Each resulting part will now be listed separately in the Recordings screen, with a message indicating the recording service was restarted during recording.
- fixed an archiving issue from client PCs.
- fixed timezone issue with manual recurring recordings
- added some simple validation checks of the server name when user tries to enable client mode.
- fixes an issue where duration information was sometimes not delivered to clients
- added a checkboxes on HDPVR setup screen to control whether the capture graph is stopped and restarted on channel change, and whether the NextPVR should ignore the inital data from the HDPVR when a recording starts (so it can avoid video of STB changing channels in STB setups)
- updated NEWA

For those wanting to try the xbmc addon, you can download Windows builds from wileecoyote's binaries page http://www.dotnetdevelopers.net/XBMC/xbmcpvr.html. It does need you to be running a recent Frodo build of xbmc.

The addon has also been used on Linux, but I dont have any prebuilt binaries for you at this stage. It can be built from source from my repository at https://github.com/sub3/xbmc-pvr-addons

Sorry, as mentioned, this was a fairly minimal release with very little changed.

I am very excited to try this release with the XBMC addon. I have not really used NPVR since the old GB-PVR days. I've primarily used SageTV for the last many years. Since its demise at the hand of Google, I've been checking in here for developments in the XBMC PVR addon area. Looks like I'm a little late to the party, but I can't wait to try this out tonight.

Great! For me, these smaller upgrades are quite welcome. It is easier to assess the improvements in smaller increments. The former HUGE updates makes a number of nice improvements be overshadowed and maybe forgotten by the bigger ones. Also, I guess the support cycle with patches will be easier to handle with less functionality changes in each release. Another plus is that patches can be rolled into the official release faster putting less demand on the user to constantly check for and manually patching the program.

Just my 2 cents! Smile

What's in it to build an iOS version? I recently got an iPad and I saw xmbc is available for iOS.

XBMC Plugin works fine in UK using Open-elec and Raspberry Pi, apart from BBC HD Channels which are struggling. ITV HD and Channel 4 HD are OK.

I've never built it on iOS.

The code is pretty generic and works on both Linux and Windows. In theory the code should be fine for use on iOS too, but it may need an xcode project file created or similar.

With respect to "multi recording folders for manual recordings" mentioned by Superman2012.
Temporary fix for the now
Use Tv Listing Plug in.
Enter Manual as normal for that Plug in
Go to Recordings and edit entry will give option of drive selection.
Cheers
