This is really cool. If it works with the Xbox Media Center, it could work for us. There are a couple more pics but I couldn't post them due to forum limitations.

Coming Soon: PSPVNC

NHDeath of Team Xos will be releasing soon a VNC client for the PSP aptly dubbed PSPVNC. Based off of the source of palmVNC, you will be able to control your computer via the dpad as the mouse, and a virtual keyboard for text input.

NHDeath comments that the reason he is making this “is to work with my Xbox Dashboard/OS and use the PSP as a controller for the built in emulators and games.”

This program should be released tomorrow with added final touches including icon support and a new host file browser. Here are some more screenshots including a custom home screen:

Also, (very cool) this program will be running over WiFi, so you can be on your computer anywhere in the house with your PSP.

For those of you who do not know what VNC is, VNC stands for Virtual Network Computing. It is, in essence, a remote display system which allows you to view a computing 'desktop' environment not only on the machine where it is running, but from anywhere on the Internet and from a wide variety of machine architectures. You can visit their website for more info or download their free product.

I know sub has one so maybe he could provide some feedback once the app is released? Wishful thinking maybe...

As much as I'd like to take it on, I've already got too much on my plate.

Darn! The author of PVNC released a beta WITH source code too... If only it were possible to provide a front end for the PSP the same way GBPVR does for the MediaMVP. Man o' man would that kick arse!

As I said, I'm too busy to take this on.

VNC for showing screens is relatively easy...but I suspect would be a significant amount of work to get audio and full motion video working across the network with this.

I don't get it... what's the point?

I mean I like the idea of PSP hacks and new functionality as much of the next guy (cool stuff like the psp drum machine http://musicthing.blogspot.com/2005/07/p...r-psp.html )

But what's the point of controlling your Xbox media center from your PSP?

Is it the streaming aspect?

VNC is cool for remote desktop access... but where would gbpvr fit in?

spell it out for me, as i might be missing the obvious.

Actually, my hope was for a plug-in that allowed the PSP to function as a fancy remote control with an OSD. Streaming video to the device is WAY beyond the functionality I was asking for. All I envisioned was having the ability to setup and manage recordings remotely through the PSP.
