Martin, 1.2.3 works excellent here, quick startup too. But the fact that XBMC does not have teletext subtitle support is really a showstopper for me, very disappointion. Apart from that there's a lot I like in XBMC.

XBMC definitely DOES have teletext subtitle support. I'm using the official PVR branch with a dreambox as backend, and subtitles are (annoyingly) on by default.

How do I enable them? When I play a recording (.ts) with teletext subtitles and try to choose subtitles xbmc says that there is no subtitle available. I'm running Frodo's nightly build. Are you sure your subtitles are not hardcoded?

Edit: I saw a post in the support forum saying that the developer needed a teletext decoder before he could implement ttx subs (the post was from 2010 i think).

Are you guys confusion teletext and dvb subtiles? XBMC does a good job with dvb subtitles, but I am pretty sure you need the pvr addon's like sub's to display them, and even then I am not sure if all pvr addons are supported.

@Reddwarf, XBMC uses the same rolling file for live tv as NextPVR, and you will suffer from all of it's annoyances. I will make the same recommendation I to to NMT and NextPVR users, and that is avoid it, and do a quick record if you do want to pause or navigate safely in the file. Also XBMC will let you navigate in the growing recording if you provide access via a drive letter or share. but not in the live tv.

So you get the No Teletext message when you click on the txt buttong?

Quote:So that is where the rolling file phenomenom strikes. But should not the SlipSeconds registry setting have an impact on that? I have it set to two hours.

I don't know this could be a socket timeout too, the log is very hard to read.

No it just says that no subtitle is available. If I start the teletext browser (that is for text-tv) I can read the pages (not very readable actually, but it is there) but teletext subtitles are on other magazine pages (692, 886 etc). The log said something about renewal of lease failed, I noticed, so it may well be a socket timeout for all I know.

I could be confused between teletext and DVB subtitles, but the subtitles I'm seeing look just like the crappy subtitles I used to get on analogue CRT TVs in the '90s, so I would have thought they were teletext subtitles.

I get them in live TV, both through X-NEWA and through the XBMC PVR. Pressing T toggles them on and off.

Ok, Reddwarf provided me a link to sample file and teletext definitely works in Eden playing from X-NEWA. It only partially works in Frodo though so I'd see it is an alpha version issue.

Edit: to avoid confusion, I capture in XBMC but I played it in MPC to grab the stills.

Ok, I'm running the Frodo, is there any issues with Eden?
