So, I've got things working over HDMI in Win7 x64 without issue -- I can play youtube videos and see/hear everything just fine via HDMI.. However, when I fire up NPVR I get video without the audio.. I tried fooling around with the decoder settings -- changing from default audio decoding to other decoders and noticed no change.. I think I saw a link somewhere that listed a bunch of decoders that can be used but can't find it now.. I'm thinking I need to install that set and see how things go..

Thx!

ok.. Installed SAF filters w/o issue.. Re-installed my Realtec audio driver for my Asus board.. Windors is still able to get audio w/o issue but I can't get any audio w/ npvr doing live tv.. Any ideas on what is messed up?

Check you LAV audio setting on the [..] and make sure that AC3 is turned on. If you want to bitstream AC3 make sure that option is on too.

Thanks.. I checked it (didn't notice it before) and you were right that AC3 was disabled -- I enabled it and a few others (dolby flavors) and still no workie..

Just to clarify, the Decoders are setup as follows :

Audio Renderer: Default (recommended)
Music Renderer: Default (recommended)

MPEG1 Audio : (LAV Audio Decoder)
AC3 Audio : (LAV Audio Decoder)
E-AC3 Audio : (LAV Audio Decoder)
AAC Audio : (Monogram Audio Decoder)
HE-AAC Audio : Disabled

Does that sound about right?

All you need for US TV is MPEG1 and AC3. They rest can be disabled if you wish. I'm not familiar with LAV for audio, I know AC3 Filter works with NPVR for AC3, but I don't use audio over HDMI. In my experience, if it works on Windows, it will work in NPVR with AC3 Filter. I'm out of ideas. You should probably post your logs so we can see what NPVR is doing, there may be a clue there. Look at the sticky at the top of this forum for log information.

Some of my logs are a few posts above.. I just didn't capture them for the last post I did late last night.. I can get the latest if that would help.

Is HDMI the default audio output for your Windows setup, or is audio being sent to a different output (which may not have speakes connected).

My default audio is something called PDP-R04 connected via HDMI but when I switch over to use one of the Realtek outputs I hear nothing so I've been leaving it as the PDP-R04 entry.. I will fess up that this is the first time I've ever used Windows to connect to an HDMI output or even try to listen to audio in something other than the built-in speaker.. I suspect I've got something messed up... See the pic below if that might help..

BTW -- since I do have SageTV loaded on this machine currently, I've also got access to their decoders as well...

One last question -- after I change audio settings, do I need to restart NPVR for the updates to take effect or a reboot? I've not been doing either -- just apply and go..

Hi.
Just make sure you dont enabled audio passthrough durning SAF install. You should setup NPVR fo LAV audio decoder for all audio formats including AAC and HE-AAC. Both are confirmed to be working.
