win8, hdhomerun, and firewall rules

even though i have allowed NextPVR.exe and NRecord.exe through the default win8 firewall, i cannot get npvr to tune without fully disabling the firewall. has anyone else out there had this issue? does anyone have any advice of what could be the issue? are there additional firewall rules i need to create?

If you had searched even a little bit you should have found that you also need to add NDigitalHost.exe to your firewall rules.

the results i found mentioned only NextPVR.exe and NRecord.exe (with some adding ntray but claiming that it wasn't necessary). thank you for your help and sorry i've given you the impression that i didn't try to find the solution myself.

NTray does use sockets so yes depending on how restrictive your firewall is it might be needed. Martin |
