Hey there,

current configuration, Colossus connected to set top box via component with optical. works fine in wintv, arcsoft, sage and Windows MC however for some reason I cannot get the audio to work in NextPVR. All 4 other options have some limitation or issue wintv and arcsoft not exactly what I'm looking for, sage discontinued and only trials available and MC causing some weird stutter on back to back recordings due to ehvid.exe

I have scanned the forum and tried a few different tests.

1) change for SPDIF to true
2) ensure I have the latest release
3) LVM audio codec
4) disabling enabling
5) removed an reinstalled 3 times (refresh settings)
6) added registry key AC3
7) recorded and checked if audio is captured, it is NOT

Hoping someone can help me out looks like NEXTPVR can offer exactly what I'm looking for.

Cheers

The data you are capturing is not AC3, so I assume you are not configured for AC3 passthrough.

2012-12-17 21:58:06.633 [DEBUG][1] audio renderer now AAC

You might need to delete and re-import your channels with SPDIF enabled.

Note the Registry setting is PreferAC3 and it is not being used for your test.

Hey Martin,

Thanks for the response. I’m still relatively green to capture and much better versed in video capture than the different audio capture streams.

Here is what I think I know

1) Other capture software works; not sure if the audio type is automatically switched; and

2) My STB box includes HD content and SD content which I believe would change the audio stream depending on channel? Stereo, 5.1, etc

3) The colossus card is setup for SPDIF

4) I do not have passthrough enabled or atleast I do not utilize it because the computer is where it stops I do not feed this to a receiver. The files are hosted on a NAS and picked up by DLNA players usually built into tvs, bluray players, viewed on tablets or laptop/desktop

You mention “remove and reimport channels with SPDIF” enabled. I know how to remove and reimport the channels, not sure how to do this with SPDIF enabled. I assume it is since I set the value in the config.xml.

Here is what my config screen looks like with the drop downs

Thought suggestions?

Was it set to SPDIF when you created these channels? If not, you'll need to delete and recreate the channels.

Hey sub,

that is interesting and just triggered something. I was not thinking of when I actually generated the guide, I was thinking of when I went imported then channels and the EPG guide.

I took a closer look at the actual XML file found an HD channel and noticed the audio tag....

Would it be accurate to assume that if I regenerate this with SPDIF set to true it should adjust the values in the audio accordingly?

Thanks

No, that's nothing to do with it. This is just saying the program only provides stereo audio.

Thanks Sub,

The only other item I found was in the "do not edit" config where SPDIF is still set to false. It is changed in the regular config.xml. should it be in both? I'm at a loss here and think I've exhausted about all I can come up with.

Assuming you've got the latest patches installed, do you see SPDIF listed to each of the channel? If not, you'll need to delete and recreate the channels.

Ok sub,

here is what I have done. The installation instructions are somewhat confusing especially around what is included in the Oct 1 release, what was included a few hours later, and the cumulative patch released circa Oct 25. Nonetheless I did a reinstall last night, I applied R1 patch, I have updated any other dll's listed in the 14 - .... section and I'm just preparing to rerun the channel import. MOst importantly I think I did them in order.

It is quite possible that I might have mixed up some of the *.dll updates so I figured I might as well do it again and methodically...maybe this will work.

I'm not sure if this is even possible to do (or may be done already) but is there a way to datestamp the *.dll patch, i.e. 20121218_nshared.zip (inside nshared.dll).

I'll post back.

cheers
