Hello, on two of my client systems, I get no On Screen Display or info bar at all. Otherwise playback is fine.

Can someone point me to where the problem might be? One thing is that both of these are widescreen TV's, but on my computers with 4:3 monitors the OSD works fine.

Thanks!

How much memory have the video cards got? Is it an old card with less than 128k.

On the main computer it has the built in ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics. I had the memory set to Auto but I just changed it to the max, 256MB, and still have the problem. For playback of recordings.

But, I just tried Live TV, and initially I see the video then the info about the channel and show pop up and the video disappears to black. If I pause, then I see the time bar. But I can't get the channel/show info to go away and never get the video back.

This is running Win XP with 2GB main memory, and the video memory is shared. I'm running in Overlay mode.

overlay is the issue
it hasnt worked properly for ages as only dinosaur computers need it these days
try the other till you get a good compromise

in xp evr has no hardware acceleration cpu does all the work,( can have good results if you only want to use for nextpvr)
vmr9 is best for xp
vmr9 custom used to be good but seems broken again
vmr9 fse normally gets really good playback with low cpu but takes over screen so makes pc a bit useless for anything else
vmr7 can be good on older machines
overlay was good on low spec machines but the menus etc dont show as you have found out (something broke)

All depends on hardware/decoder combo what will work best so might take a bit of trial and error

Okay, thanks. I did try a few of the others with no luck but I'll keep playing. I'm also running Catalyst 11.5 so I am going to upgrade to the latest (12.6) and see if that helps. I can live without the OSD if necessary, but Live TV with no video is a bit lacking. Wink

I can eventually upgrade to Win7 on both these machines. Right now I'm switching back and forth between NVPR and BeyondTV, and BTV needs XP to get GPU hardware acceleration.

try and watch live tv and post your logs
Sounds like a different issue than the osd

might wanna try to re-register the filters..(RegisterFilters.bat)
and probably vmr7 is going to be best bet on that hardware/os...[or vmr9FSE]

Here are the log files from the last time I tried to watch live TV. If anyone sees anything let me know.

I did order a newer (and cheap) ATI 5450 video card to try. Love the fact that a $15 or $20 card can play any video you throw at it. Smile

I installed a Radeon 5450 card into the main system, updated DirectX and the Catalyst drivers. Still no Live TV.

I actually see the video for about a second, then it goes away when the info bar pops up. The info bar never goes away, and the video never comes back. This system is running XP Pro. Recordings play fine, and other video programs like web players and Beyond TV also work fine.

Any ideas?

Have you switched to EVR/VMR or are you still trying to use Overlay?

Also, what MPEG2 decoder are you now using? Have you tried others?

You'd probably be best to post a new set of logs.
