Hi

Have just started to move from GBPVR.
Have installed NetxPVR and TechnoTrend C-1501 which seem to work fine
I have some issues

I started a scen using Sweden and COMHEM (only choice after Sweden) and it did find some of my channels and also some channels called Unknown followed by frequency.sid.

I am not using COMHEM but a local cable TV supplier (SKTV) using DVB-C, in my TV I am supposed to use these parameters:

Frequence: 362 MHz
Symbolspeed: 6875 MS/s
Modulation: 64 QAM
network: yes

question how should I do when searching for channels with these parameters?

I tried again using all frequencies and 6875 which seem to give me a lot more channels - is this the way or should I add my parameters in some config file?

regards Janne

If your cable supplier uses 6875 as symbol rate it should work fine. I the symbol rate is something else you could take the "All Channels - 6875" file and edit the symbol rate to the correct one, then save it with some other name.

I found som channels but not all

the ini file looks like this:

[CABTYPE]
1=All Countries
2=All Frequencies (6.875MBd SR)

[DVB]
0=116
1=C,50500,6875,QAM64,8
2=C,57500,6875,QAM64,8
3=C,64500,6875,QAM64,8
4=C,71500,6875,QAM64,8
5=C,78500,6875,QAM64,8
6=C,85500,6875,QAM64,8
7=C,92500,6875,QAM64,8
8=C,99500,6875,QAM64,8
9=C,114500,6875,QAM64,8
10=C,121500,6875,QAM64,8
11=C,128500,6875,QAM64,8
12=C,135500,6875,QAM64,8
since my cable provider has this info
Frequence: 362 MHz
Symbolspeed: 6875 MS/s
Modulation: 64 QAM
network: yes

is it so that my ini file should start with
1=C,362000,6875,QAM64,8
2=C,370000,6875,QAM64,8
since they have Fre 362 MHz?

how do one knows that next frequency should be 8 MHz higher - is that a standard?

is there any app that can scan and show the actual frequencies witout first setting them in the ini file?

What .ini file is that? Did you try the "All Countries - All channels 6875" file? It should find all channels unless your provider also uses QAM256. You can accomplish that by repeating the frequencies in the .ini file and substitute QAM64 with QAM256.

As Reddwarf points, out you should try the "All Countries - All channels 6875" selection. It already scans all the standard frequencies using a symbol rate of 6875 and QAM64 modulation. This will find the channels on your example frequency.

Frequency: 362 MHz
Symbolspeed: 6875 MS/s
Modulation: 64 QAM
network: yes

Also as Reddwarf said, your cable company may have additional frequencies using a different modulation like QAM256. If that's the case, take a copy of the "All Countries - All Frequencies - 6875.ini" file, edit to set QAM256:

Quote:[CABTYPE]
1=All Countries
2=All Frequencies (6.875MBd SR - QAM256)

[DVB]
0=116
1=C,50500,6875,QAM256,8
2=C,57500,6875,QAM256,8
3=C,64500,6875,QAM256,8
4=C,71500,6875,QAM256,8
...etc

ok

no they use QAM 64

I was more wondering if it works so that I should start with Freq 362 instead of 50500

and go higher I should have about 150 channels but I only see a few.

but I am not sure if that is the way the ini file works.

the 6875.ini file has 116 channels with frequencies

last line in 6875.ini is
116=C,858000,6875,QAM64,8

And I am guessing I should include higher freq such as e.g. 999000

It'll take a less time to start finding channels of you start at 362MHz vs 50MHz, but it shouldn't make any difference to the channels found unless you scan different frequencies/symbolrate/modulation than those included in the original set. ie, you'd just be deleting frequencies that you know wont find any channels.

Its hard to guess why your channels are missing unless you can tell us where these missing channels should be, then I can check this was a frequencies/symbolrate/modulation that NextPVR tried to scan. Do you have an old GBPVR scan file? If you had it working in GBPVR, then I can check what the frequencies etc were.

Googling "Comhem Sweden modulation" does shows some references to QAM256.

What tuner cards do you have? In my setup I have noticed that some tuners have trouble finding channels that are on QAM64 modulation while channels on QAM256 is detected by almost all devices. The Cinergy C PCI card can find all channels while a Technotrend C1501 card finds only a few QAM64 channels. I recently bought a cheap usb dvb-c tuner from China which has exceptional good reception. I'v also tested a Cinergy C PCIe dual tuner which found most channels, but unfortunately it had the nasty habit of locking up (device failed to start) until the next power down/up cycle.

Why not try to scan all frequencies on QAM256 also, when your cable company says that they use 362/6875/QAM64 it might be that they are referring to the "master" transponder that contains channel list, frequency info and epg for their STB's.

I use Technotrend C1501 card I have not used them in GBPVR they ar new for my move to NextPVR

I can try the 256 also.

I am not using Comhem but a local cableTV supplier but they might as you say use 256 also.

is there any other application that can scan and find the frequencies?
