Hi,

I'm using NPVR 2.5.9 with a HD Homerun and connecting to that with XBMC Frodo (tried both Beta 2 and Beta 3) with sub's NextPVR plugin for XBMC.
I also installed the patch from here: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...er-changes

To get LiveTV streaming in XBMC working at all I have to disable Timeshift. But even with timeshift disabled I run into problems:
The first channel tune usually works fine but after the second or third channel change at latest I see the buffering dialogue showing up and stuck at 0% or 2%.
I have to completely stop/quite XBMC and reopen it to get it working.

In the example below I tuned successfully to SYFD (StartStream(7546:SYFYD)) and then to TBS (StartStream(7545:TBS HD) - failed) and then A&E HD (StartStream(7544:A&E HD) - also failed).

In the nrecord log i see the following:

Same issue here. Tried using XBMC 12 RC1 and all nightlies after it. Using latest NPVR with the most recent patches. Anyone found a solution to this problem yet?

If you two guys can also post your logs, I'll take a look.

What type of capture device are you using?

I think the problem is that there are two approaches to PVRs in XBMC, one uses a sophisticated demux in the client and the other like NextPVR relies on the general XBMC player to demux the ts stream. I don't think in live tv the demux is properly cleared between different channel formats using the remote or OSD arrows (I tried to highligth that in some videos yesterday). On the digital tuner going between 480i 720p and 1080i I have issues on linux. It almost always works when you stop and start a channel from the guide. If there was a way for pvr.nextpvr to reset the demux on changes it would probably be more reliable.

NextPVR has no visibility of the demux that XBMC uses. It just passes it transport stream data when requested.

None using the XBMC demux have control over it.

When I implemented the XBMC addon, I had the choice of using of either using the built-in XBMC demux and getting timeshift support in the near future, or my own demux with only support for live tv and no plans for timeshift. I obviously went for the former, which provides more features users want.

They've since added support for timeshifting when you implement your own demux. I think only TvHeadEnd supports this at this stage. I will probably move to this approach, but it was added way too late in the Frodo release cycle, so I'm not going to be able to add it until post-Frodo.

FWIW timeshifting seems ok for me with the latest xbmc nightly, no buffering issues either. Running hdhomerun tuners on win7 with npvr up to date. There seems to be rapid improvements in the xbmc nightlies recently along with the introduction of the odd new bug occasionally.

I'm using a HDHomeRun Prime (HDHR3-CC).

I went to generate a log for you but now I cannot get the problem to occur. In fact, I have never had channel switching using NPVR as a backend for XBMC work as well as it is working right now.

I'm using the attached patches with XBMC nightly build found here.

Thanks for all your hard work on this Sub. Now if I can just get EPG to work correctly Smile
