Just a short question: Is it correct that for playing a Video, ripped from Bluray (.mkv or .m2ts), the ffdshow DXVA Video Decode is used, regardless of the decoder-settings in Nextpvr? I would have assumed that that decoder is used, that is specified in the H.264 Video-Setting?

Many thanks.

The decoder settings in NPVR only apply to Live TV or recordings. Everything else is left to Windows DirectShow to pick.

Many thanks for this information. That explains the behavior.

Hi.
I just have question, anyone still using "CyberLink Video/SP Decoder" ? I am thinkining about removing it from ulocked SAF.
It was used as alternative to DVD decoder, but since LAV support DVD decoding, i don't see a resaon to include it anylonger.

I was using CyberLink Video/SP Decoder for dvd up to Christmas - just used LAV with native dxva for the first time on a dvd and all menu overlays work, picture quality is good cpu usage low, so I can see no reason to keep the SP decoder now.

How long before we can do the same for FFDshow I wonder ? - PDVD12 for MPEG2 TV, H264 TV and HD Video / Blu-ray.
LAV for everything else. - still using ffdshow for wmv vc1at the moment.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

I keep FFDshow for this reasons:
- subtitles (+resize), show/hide subtitles by shortcuts - it won't be supported by LAV. Subtitles should be rendered by player (nPVR), but i doubt it will ever be. MediaPortal/XBMC support this.
- audio/subtitles stream switching - maybe it will be supported by LAV. This should be supported by player (nPVR). MediaPortal/XBMC support this.
- DXVA decoding + subtitles on WinXP - it won't be supported by LAV
- Intel QuickSync decoding including HW deinterlacing - i have no idea if QuickSync HW deinterlacing will be supported or not by LAV

I use the Cyberlink decoders. I will download the latest SAF and try the latest LAV. My preference would be for you to say now that Cyberlink will not be included after June 2012. You might have some grumpy users if you drop Cybelink before everyone has had a chance to try other options. Thanks for your good work.

To specify it - unlocked SAF have "CyberLink Video/SP Decoder" (for DVDs) and "CyberLink Video Decoder (PDVD12)".
I only wanted to remove "CyberLink Video/SP Decoder", not both.

But even MediaPortal users vote to keep it Smile

I don't use CyberLink Video/SP Decoder. PDVD12 and LAV for DVD (on the rare occasions I watch DVD, they look crap now compared to BluRay..)
