EDIT
Nevermind, this got me going.

Ok so just got a T2 card and so far so good accept I can't get EPG data for the HD channels to work.

As I understand it this is because HD EPG data is encrypted and I need to setup an alternate method, I have tried reading the wiki and a few threads on here but I'm lost and can't get it to work.

Can anyone guide me through the process please, I'd really appreciate it.

Another way is to use "EPG Collector" to download the broadcast Freeview EPG data to an XMLTV file. You can then set the HD channels to use XMLTV data from this XMLTV file. As the HD data in encrypted you can map the data for the HD channels to come from the matching SD channel under "Mapping".

EPG Collector is a very useful tool - it's available from Sourceforge http://sourceforge.net/projects/epgcollector/ - I find that using the actual broadcast EPG data is the best solution whenever possible.

Another advantage of EPG Collector is that it populates the "Unique ID" column in the EPG. This is the data used by Freeview PVRs to do "Series" recordings and "Avoid duplicate recordings". NextPVR does not know about "Series ID" data and treats it as part of the "Unique ID" so a bit of post processing is required to delete the "Series" data so "Avoid duplicate recordings" works.

For completeness ... I use XMLTVGUI and NextPVR uses the series and episode fields in the xmltv xml file to create a Unique Id for each show when it does the Update EPG. "Avoid duplicate recordings" works a treat here.

What do you use as your data source? I use Radio Times for some channels I record from my cable box and there is no "unique ID" only "episode-num".

I use Radio Times ... and get, for example, this in the xml ...

Quote:</programme>
<programme start="20130125141500 +0000" stop="20130125151000 +0000" channel="UK_RT_134">
<title lang="en">CSI: Miami</title>
<sub-title lang="en">S3E6/24 - Hell Night</sub-title>
<desc lang="en">A baseball player sta ... ror in the frame.</desc>
<credits>
<director>Scott Lautanen</director>
<actor>Hor ... x Linn</actor>
</credits>
<category lang="en">Drama</category>
<length units="minutes">55</length>
<episode-num system="xmltv_ns">2.5/24.</episode-num>
<previously-shown/>
<subtitles type="teletext">
<language lang="en">English</language>
</subtitles>
</programme>

The unique_id column in the EPG_EVENT table contains ...

Quote:CSI: Miami-S003E006

I don't do anything to create this unique_id so NextPVR must create it during the UpdateEPG.

If
Quote:<episode-num system="xmltv_ns">2.5/24.</episode-num>
is missing from the xml, then unique_id is empty in the database.

As I said I use Radio Times for six Discovery and Sky channels I record from my cable box and indeed I do get the same format entries under "episode-num" in the xml file. I assume that in the "Unique_id" in the EPG the number after "S" is the series and the number after "E" is the episode number which together with the name would produce a unique id to avoid duplicates. I looked at several EPG entries and it is not obvious how the numbers in the XML file translate to the "Unique_id" in the database.

However I am now committed to the "Unique_IDs" transmitted by Freeview as I currently have over 400 "Recently Deleted" recordings. My son wrote me a script to tidy up the XML file produced by EPG Collector so the Unique_IDs worked with NextPVR.
