New to NEXTPVR

Hello everyone,

I've been trying to understand why I just can't scan any channel but I can't figure out why. Here is my setup

Supplier: Vidéotron in canada
Card: Hauppauge hvr-1800
OS: Windows 8

I have a coax cable connected from my card to the cable directly. Since I only want the normal channels, 3 to 36 I don't think I need a box. Ok so in NextPVR setting screen in Devices I see QAM Hauppauge Win TV 885. If I select it and scan for channel it goes to 100 and stoped without even detecting one channel.

What am I doing wrong??

BTW IN Skype if I go setup my webcam and select my PVR Card I can see and hear my tv channels.

With Hauppauge analog cards your best bet is to install WinTV 7 first.

I'm pretty sure you want to scan analog channels. QAM is for digital channels. For the analog channels, you should install WinTV first as Martin said because there a pieces of it needed for analog in NextPVR.

Yep like you said it's looks like using WinTV 7 is now detecting my channels.

One last thing will I ever be able to use XBMC Live TV option even if I need wintv to see my channels?

Installing WinTV adds some Hauppauge support files that gets analog working in NextPVR too. XBMC should work as long as you don't uninstall WinTV
