I am running Win7 with Silicon Dust HomeRun Prime. I have been trying for 2 days to get NextPVR to pull in Live TV and I am totally stuck. I have updated with the patch. I have been able to get NPVR to recognize the 3 Tuners (including ATSC, QAM and HD). I was also able to pull in all the Comcast channels and Bulk Map them to the 3 tuners for HD , but it did not find anything on ATSC or QAM. I then added the NPVR programs to my firewall exceptions. I also installed AC3filter. Loaded all the codecs I could find, and I have tried numerous combinations. The results each time have been the same. Black screen, with no audio. TV Guide does appear to work. I even re-installed NextPVR and re-patched. At this point I am out of options as to why I am getting nothing. I have attached my log files here, in hopes someone can point me to a solution.

It'll only find ATSC/QAM channels via the SiliconDust BDA drivers.

I'm pretty sure your problem will be firewall related, since that's always the problem HDHR users encounter. Often users thing they've added firewall exceptions, only to find they've done it wrong.

If you attempt to record, do you end up with a file with zero bytes?

I haven't tried to record anything, but will give it a try and let you know. I have turned the firewall off thinking that might be the problem, but that did not seem to affect the results I was getting. I should add that everything is local, and I do not have a separate server on a different computer.

I'd try a recording, since it's a much more simple operation, and takes out other factors that could go wrong with live tv (like decoders etc) out of the equation. If you get a file, but with no data in it, then it's pointing towards no data arriving from the HDHR, and strongly suggesting you still have some firewall or antivirus software getting in the way. If you get no file at all, then it's possibly a file permission issue with your recording directory.

Would that be the NRecord log file?

OK,

I recorded about 20 minutes of a program. I tried to play it while it was recording and just got the black screen, no sound either. I have attached the log files. Maybe someone can decipher those for me.

The file created by the recording process will be in the Recordings folder (or a sub-folder) specified in this screen ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?....Recording

Is the Size of the .ts file greater than zero showing that the recording has worked? Can you play the file okay in Windows Media Player showing that the file has good data? If "yes" to both then it's back to decoders.

I checked the .ts file after 20 minutes recording, and it had 0 bytes. Not sure what that indicates, other than something is not getting through.

Almost every time that we see this it is because of some glitch in the firewall or somesuch. Forgive me for suggesting that you check the firewall and all that in nitpickin' detail.

Definitely sounds like the data isn't getting from the HDHR to NextPVR. Double check the firewall stuff.

If you're using a 3rd party firewall like Zone Alarm, you may also want to check the Microsoft firewall settings, since some people have found theirs turned back on, even though they were using a 3rd party firewall.
