UK Freesat HD Channels

Hi

I recently made a few changes that caused me a few issues with NPVR, the result of which is that I can no longer receice HD channels. I have tried completely uninstalling NPVR (and deleted all files from both Program Files (x86)\NPVR and \Users\Public\NPR and the registry entries), and even uninstalled / re installed the two TV cards (Hauppage Nova S2 & Nova S Plus) but even after re-install & rescan I cannot get HD channels! They are found during the scan as H264 HD and appear in the channel guide as DVB-S (should they be DVB-S2?), but just display a blank screen.

I can confirm that the S2 card can receive HD as I have tried it with WinTV7 and it works fine - but WinTV7 doesn't appear to do everything else that I want to do (and I prefer NPVR!)

Does anyone have any ideas?

Often a symptom of a decoder problem. Are they H.264 channels?

Are you running Windows 7? If so, quite possibly the platform update discussed in this thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...-out-today

[Edit] What H.264 Video decoder are you using (Settings/Decoders), and is there any other choice in the drop-down list?

Try making a recording with NPVR and playing it back with VLC which has it's own decoders. This will show if you have a record or playback problem with NPVR.

edit: Yes, DVB-S2 tuners show up as plain DVB-S (I have a nova S2 and it works fine for me).

My Hauppauge Nova-S2 card seemed to need a few extra pointers to pick em up.

PS if you're editing your registry remember to create a back up on your desktop just in case it doesn't work so you can go back to your original settings.

Thanks everyone for all your replies, the issue was the Windows update as per the post suggested by Zeb. There are other decoders I could use but I can't see anything I really need in the MS update so I just uninstalled it.
