Ascendtech has the pvr-250 available on clearance here for 90 bucks shipped.

oddly enough though, the card pictured is not the 250. anyone ever dealt with ascendtech before?

I just receiced mine from Ascendtech yesterday. They're a bit slow in the shipping, and the card is OEM (nothing but the card in the package)

what's the difference between the 150 and 250?

250 is also supported in MythTV, 150 isn't yet. That's about it, afaik.

If you have digital cable or sattalite box, pvr150 comes with the ir blaster which enable you to control the external box. PVR250 comes with separate chips to process video and audio.

I personally can't speak from experience but I've read elsewhere that the 250 is actually the predecessor to the 150 (go figure) and that also the video quality of the 250 is inferior to the 150.

I just bought a PVR 150 for $80.00 US. I previously had a PVR 250 that I bought for $85.00 US. The 150 has the 45 button remote which is nice as well as the FM tuner. There doesn't seem to be any difference in the quality, at least non that I can readily see without a lot of comparison testing.
