"NextPVR has stopped working" failure

New to the site and downloaded v 2.6.2 on Windows 8 machine. Checked for correct system requirements. Upon successful installation message and starting NextPVR, immediately received the message box "NextPVR has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program." Selection "==> Close the program" is the only option. I have tried restarting, uninstalling, re-installing twice, and read the forums, with no luck. Any suggestions please. THANKS.

If it is crashing on startup, it sounds like it is missing a critical component.
Just to double check, have you installed the Installation Pre-Requisites: http://www.gbpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.ph...Pre-requisites

upload the logs as described in post #2 so that someone can take a look.

Thanks gEd - looked up the link for prerequisites and your link failed when clicked - page not found. So I searched WIKI for perquisites and not much to show there either, just info on how to use WIKI. Yes I did check for the .log files and there is nothing related to a log file in the program folders, like it didn't get loaded or something.

NPVR LOGS
NPVR logs pretty much everything it does in several log files. The default log location is in the logs directory under the npvr data directory:
Windows Vista & Windows 7: C:\users\public\npvr\logs
Windows XP: C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\npvr\logs

By all means zip and attach your logs. I'm wondering if your hardware meets the requirements for a HTPC.

You might have overlooked the DirectX end-user runtimes, but I've never heard of that causing complete failure. (I ran NPVR for a month without it under Vista.) That being said, there is some reason to think that Windows 8 users need the "full download" of DirectX runtimes rather than the web installer version at the Pre-requisites link (see http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...usb2/page2). One way to get that would be to install hoborg's SAF6 pack, which would also give you decoders for MPEG2 and AC3 that are quite possibly lacking on your system. But post logs first!
