It allows the application to apply the 'avoid duplicates' logic that the guys in North America have had.

'new episodes' is something different, indicating it's a very first airing of this episode on television. I've not seen any indicator like this in the DVB data.

xmltv has always had support for this. I'm just adding it for DVB EPG.

I didn't realise that. Must give it a test...

It worked for me. Big Bang Theory shows dozens of episodes each week on C4 & E4. Set "all episodes & all channels" recurring recording and set "Avoid duplicates ... " at http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?....Recording and you should get one and only one of each episode.

As I understand it, NextPVR populates the unique-id column in epg-event from the show title plus series and episode nos in the .xml file.

That column is completely empty for me. The avoid duplicates setting was ticked, but I can't recall if it was always that way or not (will have to dig out a backup). The EPG is xmltv from DVBGuide. Ahhh...hang on...as I type this I recall one of my post-processors removing comments from the xml file - that's where this stuff is kept isn't it...

The unique id can be populated from a couple of places in an xmltv file. Either <unique-identifier> or <episode-num xmltv_ns="xxxxx">. You'd have to check if your xmltv file is using one of those two.

Oh right. I was getting confused with the <!--crid type="0x31" uri="crid://fp.bbc.co.uk/240URQ" --> stuff mentioned earlier. That was being stripped out, and bringing it back in hasn't populated the unique id column, but it wouldn't anyway from what you've said. I'll shut up now Big Grin

This format of series/episode data in an xmltv is new to me (as of about 2 days ago), so there is no support for it at this stage. Does your xmltv grabber provide you an option to not comment them out? I could add support for this format, but I wouldn't want to be looking in comment nodes.

Not that I'm aware of, no. We could always request it (of DVBGuide) but the 1.0/1.1 xml header requests seem to have fallen on deaf ears unfortunately. I could write something myself if you let me know what format/elements you'd want to see them put in, although that's not ideal for everyone else (although maybe it's time I released all the little DVBGuide xml tweaks I use anyway).

If you're tweaking the file, you might as well adjust the crid info to one of the more standard formats so I don't need to change anything. ie, <unique-identifier>some unique code</unique-identifier> That unique code would probably be a concatenation of the two crids (from after the last slash), like /SRNWR4/240URQ.

Sub have you any idea what crid type="0x33" is? Most entries have an "0x31" and "0x32" but many also have a "0x33" and some entries have "0x31" and "0x33" as below. EPG Collector does not seem to use this entry although oddly the data sometimes seems to be a valid Unique ID for a different programme.

<!--crid type="0x31" uri="crid://fp.bbc.co.uk/23UUVU" -->
<!--crid type="0x32" uri="crid://fp.bbc.co.uk/L68RDT" -->
<!--crid type="0x33" uri="crid://fp.bbc.co.uk/23V6O5" -->

<!--crid type="0x31" uri="crid://fp.bbc.co.uk/156L17" -->
<!--crid type="0x33" uri="crid://fp.bbc.co.uk/1RKEMC" -->
