10 second recordings

alright so i still am getting 10 second recording and now failed recordings. this is starting to drive me nuts. please look atthe logs, and let me know if you think its still SPDIF, then i will contact happauge. but why the failed recording?

I just enabled "wait longer before starting recording" if that may help.

I'm not really sure what would be causing this. Can you do long recordings in the software that came with the device?

I can do super long recordings using both NPVR and the software.

I recently recorded 3 hours (one video 3 hours long). using component + spdif, but it seems generally the issue is happening monday evenings leading into tuesday mornings. If i start a movie 1.5hr recording right now it will work fine. (Component + SPDIF) I also set a channel to use Component with RCA back and those recordings work fine. So I am out of guesses of whats causing this.

Hi, just a few questions...

Do you record other programs on this channel, and if so, do they come out okay? Also, do you notice any video quality issues (slight drop-outs or audio glitches) on other TVs at about this time? Can you watch the program you can't record in Live TV mode?

From what you've described, I can imagine three possibilities:

1. For whatever reason, the signal on this channel isn't as good as others. That said, when I have this issue, the HDPVR tends to restart and I just lose ~7-10 seconds of video from the recording.
2. Your cable provider does some sort of maintainence which cuts TV bandwidth at about this time. This seems unlikely.
3. Worst case scenario. Down here south of the border, some telcos have disabled analog outputs on their STBs for certain programs, usually new release movies. That seems even less likely though.

Sorry I can't be of more help, but that's all I can think of.

I am able to record shows on these channels every other day of the week basically, I am going to try to have the TV on when the next record happens, maybe there is an audio glitch causing this to happen but who knows. crazy i say.

so i uninstalled driver/device and reinstalled driver/device and the blue light has returned..... hopefully it continues to work this time.

alright so now after x amount of recordings what seems to happen is it fails to lock the device, (the blue light on the device stays on when nothing is recording) does this mean this device is freezing from overheating or something.... stupid happauge.
