Hauppage Win TV-NOVA-T-Stick; all channels play fine in WinTV.

Using NextPVR, some channels display only black, no audio - and won't record either. I've tried multiple decoder settings to no avail.

Attached are log files from both a good and a bad channel.

Can anyone help me figure out what I've messed up?

I think we'll need the Nrecord.log also...

Added nrecord.log (not split into bad and good; because it's not deletable due to the background task holding it open)

What version of Windows are you running? Your logs show that you're using VMR7 video renderer. For Vista, Win7 and Win8, EVR is recommended. For XP, see if VMR9 is available in your list.

If you're running Win7 or Win8, and if the black channels are all H.264 (if HD, they're probably H.264), then H.264 video decoder is likely the problem. One solution would be to install Current Patch 2. However be sure to read Installation Notes in the top sticky thread before attempting that. I'm not sure what audio format is involved; but if you can get a picture on those channels, just right-click and move mouse pointer to Audio Stream to find out.

What Transmitter are you using in the UK?
I expect ARQ-B (Film4 is on this mux) has changed frequencies recently and you need an updated Tuning ini file for your transmitter.

They seem to be doing this without any over air warnings!
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

Win7. I was using EVR, but tried changing it to see if it would help, it didn't.
Also, shouldn't matter at all for capturing the transport stream when recording, surely?
I did a channel rescan this morning, nothing changed.
Also, as I said, WinTV can view it fine; so the device must be tuned. I have no idea how to see what transmitter I'm using.

Hurrah!

I can confirm that patch 2 does indeed fix it.
I guess the failing channels were H264 and the working ones were Mpeg2.

Reverted to EVR, still ok.

I'll let you know if I see any problems with it.

for completeness ... for UK DVB-T Freeview ... all channels are MPEG2 except the HD channels such BB1 HD and Channel 4 HD. The HD channels are H.264. The HD channels are broadcast using DVB-T2 (not older DVB-T used for the original SD channels). If your tuner is http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/site/products...stick.html then it doesn't support DVB-T2 so you wouldn't be getting HD channels.

Well, I don't understand it - because it seemed to work.

But I'm back to only getting 2MB capture files again from Film4.

New logs attached.

Typically, NextPVR uses a ndigitalhost process to receive data from the tuner and create the recording file. Can you attach logs for the ndigitalhost process that is recording this channel (if any doubt all ndigitalhost logs)?
