Also, Use right-click->Send to->Compressed to zip logs, windows doesen't care if the file is in use by the background process.

Oh dear, I didn't notice that you were running NextPVR version 2.5.9 before. Current Patch 2 is specifically for version 2.6.2. Please forgive my clumsy attempt to be helpful. I'm thinking that a clean install of 2.6.2 would be best at this point.

Code:
2013-04-12 07:11:04.429    [INFO][4]      updating /Settings/Version/*
2013-04-12 07:11:04.429    [INFO][4]      setting:/Setting/Version/CurrentVersion,  value:2.5.9
2013-04-12 07:11:04.429    [INFO][4]      setting:/Setting/Version/OnlineVersionCheck,  value:false
2013-04-12 07:11:04.429    [INFO][4]      setting:/Setting/Version/OnlineVersionCheckURL,  value:http://www.gbpvr.com/version.xml
2013-04-12 07:11:04.429    [INFO][4]      setting:/Setting/Version/LastNotifiedVersion,  value:2.5.9

To clarify - not just the recording; but the live TV is failing.

I did download the newer version; and when that failed asked here (and then applied the patch). The logs probably go back far enough to capture my usage of the older one, too, though.

The ndigitalhost logs contain messages like this
Quote:2013-04-12 07:15:06.905 [DEBUG][4] locked=1, present=1, strength=-9000, quality=10 (took 31ms to check)
The quality=10 indicates a very weak signal.

When I scan, I get a strong signal for the six frequencies/muxes that are are coming from my main transmitter. I also pick up weak sugnals from frequencies/muxes that are on other transmitters. The Transmitter Gods are in the midst of messing about with frequencies/muxes (you that 4G phone that want so desperately ... it might need changes to TV transmitters).

If you look in the Tuning folder of the data folder (near where the logs are), you will find a DVB-T folder containing a zillion .ini files. It may be that the one for your transmitter is out of date. You can check at http://www.ukfree.tv/starthere.php

Or you can try scanning again using "All Frequencies" ... this should find the strongest version of each frequency/mux.

I did scan, "All regions", and with the "scan offsets" box checked. No improvement.

And again - it works fine in WinTV; I have picture and sound etc.there - so can I import the settings across somehow?

I don't know of any way to do that. Please record a show (or a 10 minute manual recording) on a channel that works well followed by a recording on a channel that works bad. Post the logs showing both recordings (and say in the post the time of each recording). I don't understand why channels on some muxes are good but others are bad.

Bad recording, Film4 (Channel 15) Around 18:27 today (the 14th).
Good recording, ITV1 (Channel 3) 18:36

I checked what details are exposed; the ID (27136) and frequency (699,000 kHz) are the same in wintv and npvr. Not sure what else to look for.
As before, film4 is black on live TV and gives a seemingly broken ts result when recorded.

Also uploaded the captured ts in case it helps. (Given it zip compresses from 900k to 8k... it's broken.)

I'm stumped. I can only suggest that you start again. Go here http://www.ukfree.tv/transmitters.php
and enter your post code and try and figure out which transmitter you are using. The ukfree.tv site will show the frequencies that are being used by your transmitter. Check the .ini file for your transmitter in the NextPVR Tuning\DVB-T folder to make sure that the frequencies listed in the .ini file are correct. If in doubt post to say the name of the transmitter and we can confirm the frequencies.

Delete the npvr.db3 file. This will delete all existing tuning information (and any database entries for recordings). Re-boot. Start NextPVR --> Settings --> Devices and re-scan to try and get the best reception from your transmitter.

I selected Sandy Heath, and it has again tuned Film4 as 690000kHz, ID 27136
Same results as before

I cross checked the supplied tuning ini for Sandy Heath against the published frequencies and Film 4 should be on 690000 from Sandy Heath.

Are there other Channels that are having this problem?

Also check that you have a Wideband aerial and that it is actually pointing at Sandy Heath, not at one of the relay transmitters or some other direction.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh
