I have my EPG wake for 04:43 and all my sleep times are 20 minutes.

In event view I see this

Code:
The system has resumed from sleep.

Sleep Time: 14/05/2013 5:03:49 AM
Wake Time: 14/05/2013 8:42:02 AM

Yet much earlier than 5:03 I see it sleep after just 7 minutes from wakeup.

Code:
14/05/2013 4:50:31 AM

The system is entering sleep.

Not giving ScheduleDirect enough time to react

Code:
2013-05-14 04:49:10.775    [DEBUG][8]    Requesting listings from Schedules Direct
2013-05-14 17:30:54.515    [ERROR][8]    Unexpected error getting listings from schedules direct: System.Net.WebException: The operation has timed out.

Anyone have any ideas

Normal SD time is about two minutes.

Code:
2013-05-13 22:56:14.779    [DEBUG][1]    Requesting listings for the period: 2013-05-13T00:00:00Z to 2013-05-27T23:59:59Z
2013-05-13 22:58:29.558    [DEBUG][1]    Got SchedulesDirect response

That's a very slow response from SD. Either it was a bad time and they were very busy, or they had some service problem at the time.

Is it a one-off, or happening daily at this time?

Daily for three weeks. straight The problem is that it sleeps less than 1.5 minutes after going to to SD. The 13hr response is just me waking up the backend.

Ok, but you've got your machine set to sleep after 20 minutes, so sounding like some Windows thing rather than NextPVR?

Right it's not NextPVR but it falls asleep after 7-8 minutes and I can't stop it. If I run the epg update from a batch file there are no issues during the entire 8 minute plus run

Hi Martin
Do you have "System unattended sleep timeout" in your power options - I had to add it to W8 (there is a reg setting) and then set it to 12 mins to stop my machine falling asleep before epg update had completed. For some reason NPVR doesn't keep it awake like it does for a recording.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

Have you had a look at "SmartPower"? I have used MCE Standby Tool to sort my standby problems but have just installed Smartpower and that seems to have quite a few options to prevent standby if various specified things are happening.

Lao Pao I don't have that option. What I did do is run powercfg -restoredefaultscheme and now it wakes and doesn't sleep .... ever If I can now get it to sleep automatically again maybe I'll have better luck. If not I wil look at smartpower jcjeffries tanks.

It is not there as standard - the attached reg file adds it in W7 + 8 and possibly Vista.

It came from Sevenforums - quite a bit of good advise on Shutdown issues over there

Thanks again Lao Pao, my backend is Vista but you're right that does look like a potential cause. I changed that Attribute which was one, and it enabled the settings to from 2 minutes. I've bumped it to 5 for tonight and I think sleep is working. Fingers crossed.
