Looking at you logs, it looks like it is successfully sending the new message that forces it to remove the timeshift files. I know you were having an issue with it locking up, but was the timeshift file from the first channel being successfully removed?

I'm not at home right now so I can't 100% verify what you are asking but I "think" what you are saying is correct.

It seems to go like this:

Start playing channel -> timeshift file created, Change Channel -> Old timeshift file deleted, new timeshift file created, NPVR Seems to be playing the new channel, XBMC hangs

In some cases XBMC even appears to change the channel and seems to think it is playing the new channel according to the OSD but nothing is actually playing and all I see is a frozen image of the previous channel on the screen

XBMC Live TV Issues

One that seems to be problematic for me is stop

With 2.6.2 and margro's 12.1 build my channel changes and channel "selections" are quick (3 seconds)

The remaining problem is that issuing a stop will take somewhere between 7-12 seconds to actually "release" the prime's tuner. Posted about it here

I think as some consequence of that changing channels isn't stable on "client" boxes using the xbmc addon across the network. Rather than changing a channel they appear to have issued a "stop" and that results in a "tuner no longer available" which goes away and you can tune the channel fine after a 10-15 second wait

The bulk of my testing is done with digital devices (DVB/ATSC). The way the HDHomeRun Prime works has several key differences from normal digital devices. Unfortunately I'm not able to test with an HDHomeRun Prime, due to lack of sample hardware and lack of cable headend I could use it with. However, I do have a DVB-T HDHomeRun, which is reasonably similar.

I've had a hunt through boxes in the roof, found my DVB-T HDHomeRun, and dusted it off. Initially when I tried it, I could go somewhere between 2-6 channel changes in XBMC before the channel change would fail and I'd have a frozen image from last channel. I tracked this down to a timing issue between the previous live tv stream closing and the new one being created. I've made a small change, and have now gone something like 30-40 channel changes without any lockups.

It doesn't seem to leaving any files behind in my live tv buffer directory.

Great news, if there is anything I can do to help out let me know. I really appreciate you going through all the trouble to dig an old piece of hardware out of storage.

I'm not much of a programmer anymore but I'm glad to do anything I can

With any luck, that was the same problem you were seeing.

Whenever you want me to test the changes just post it here and I'll give it a go.

I just took another look at your logs, and I'm pretty sure it is the same problem. I can see a couple of messages that eventually lead me to the conclusion about what was happening.

Unfortunately it's not great timing - the next release is based on .NET 4, and uses new development tools, so my release is no longer compatible with 2.6.2, so I cant just post you a patch.
