Hi,

I just installed XMBC 12.2 followed by nextPVR to integrate my tuner TV card (Hauppage WinTV 4400), scanned the (analog) channels. It found about 25 channels on the analog Hauppauge WinTV 885 Video Capture device

But I can not watch TV: live TV, "please wait", black screen

Please see the 2 log files Nrecord and NVPR

Please note that windows media center or winTV are working without any problems;my system is windows 7

I assume you were trying to watch live TV in NextPVR (XBMC has its own decoders). Have you gone to the Settings -> Decoders page (right-click and select Settings) and selected decoders for MPEG2 Video and MPEG1 Audio? Windows 7 comes with a Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder that works very well for MPEG2 in the U.S. but seems to be unpopular in DVB countries. I'm not sure how well it would work with your analog channels, but it's worth a try. If there's a Cyberlink MPEG2 decoder on your system, by all means try that one instead. [Edit] Since WinTV is installed (which NextPVR needs for analog support), you should also try the MainConcept MPEG2 decoder.

The one NRecord log that you attached was very short and did not include an attempt to watch live TV. If you still can't get live TV after setting decoders, then please send your entire Logs folder to a zipped folder and attach to your next post.

[Edit] I should've asked if you checked the Wiki for system and software requirements: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...requisites

That log is empty. You'd need to zip and post the nrecord.log and npvr.log files immediately after you get this black screen.

As Zeb mentioned though, your black screen is probably down to the decoders you've got selected.

It looks like it is not finding a video decoder. As Zeb noted above, do you have something selected for the MPEG2 video decoder in Settings? He recommended the Microsoft DTV-DVD video decoder for Win 7 and I agree with his recommendation. I don't think you need the h.264 video decoder for analog recordings; the Hauppauge card and encoder produce MPEG2, I believe.

Looks like you're capturing from an STB that outputs PAL on channel 2, correct? You certainly must select an MPEG2 Video decoder under Settings/Decoders, but there's something else:

Code:
2013-06-26 23:14:39.061    [DEBUG][6]    About to look for hardware encoder.
2013-06-26 23:14:39.062    [DEBUG][6]    Hardware encoder not found. Attempting to fall back to software encoder.

This is worrisome because Hauppauge devices nearly always have hardware MPEG2 encoders. Are you certain that neither Media Center nor WinTV was tuned to the analog signal at the time? About a month ago, a Hauppauge PVR-350 user was getting a similar error. In his case, the solution was to turn off the "HauppaugeTVServer." (Note that it will restart whenever you reboot.) However according to sub, only the PVR-250 and 350 should be subject to that problem. Media Center has a similar recording service. Were you even getting audio during that live TV attempt? Recording might actually have been possible, but you really need hardware encoding for live TV.

[Edit] I stand corrected: No hardware encoder to be found as sub points out below. Try the MainConcept MPEG2 decoder that WinTV uses, since you say WinTV is working good.

Yes, looks like he needs to select a MPEG2 video decoder.

No, this is normal with this device. It doesn't have hardware MPEG2 encoding, and instead relies on soft encoding.

yes, I tried two MPEG2 encoders (Mainconcept, Arcsoft) and both work when using NextPVR. Now I am struggling to integrate this into NPVR.
