Just put in a new blackgold 3620 DVBT2 tuner to have a go at OTA HD. Battled through a few teething troubles and got it basically working, but I'm not getting any EPG data for the HD channels. I have no prior experience with HD in the UK - is the EPG missing from the broadcast stream for these channels or is it a NPVR / Blackgold / Driver / something else issue?

Does the EPG data live on the same frequency as the channel it relates to? I can see it scanning the HD frequencies in teh logs, but only finding date for a few unrelated channels.

Or another way round would be to ask; Is there a way to copy the SD EPG data onto the HD channel, and if so , how to get NPVR to use the SD EPG data for searches / recurring recordings, but only view or record the HD channels?

I think the EPG on the HD channels is encrypted. I think you have to use EPGCollector to pull down the broadcast epg into an XMLTV file, then point the channels in NVPR to the correct channels in the XMLTV data. I think.

I believe johnsonx42 is right. Here's a thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...D-channels

It's possible to "map" an HD channel to the listings for an equivalent SD channel via Settings->Channels->(select a channel)->Details using XMLTV EPG sources, but I'm not sure about OTA DVB listings.

Marvellous. Will look into it. Thanks.
Why are the HD EPGs encrypted? What devious thoughts are going through the minds of the broadcasters?

Maybe it isn't encrypted, maybe it is MHEG format which sub doesn't support?

With NPVR 2.6.2 and all the latest patches the OTA HD epg works - Sub now has the Hofman decoding built in.

BUT I believe there could be a driver problem with Blackgold Bgt3650 cards and 2.6.2 - The 3620 may be OK
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

yeah, had some weird problems with the 9x beta Blackgold drivers, but 8x seem fine.

Not well encrypted, more like obfuscated, I think the original intention was to only allow STB makers who supported DRM for HD to be able to get the EPG
