In the true spirit of the General Discussion forum this is totally unrelated to NextPVR...

I've been using Outlook Express for years (mostly because I've been too lazy to change). It's functional but lacking in many ways and is seriously outdated.

I've now got 4 email addresses I need to check regularly and a few others on an occasional basis and Outlook Express just doesn't handle things well.

Just wondering what email apps people use that they would recommend.

Cheers,
Brian

I've been using the Mozilla Thunderbird and it seems to cope pretty well with the multiple email accounts I use etc. It keeps them all nice and separate, and uses the appropriate response email address for each.

I use and recommend Thunderbird too, and had no problems moving the database from machine to machine. I've never even used Outlook on this laptop and don't miss it at all. It's not being enhanced much by Mozilla but that doesn't concern me.

Went to T-bird from Windows Mail on upgrading to Windows 8 from Vista - I had used it on XP after Eudora. Set it up as IMAP rather than POP3 and now use Thunderbird portable on a flash drive when I am [at the office] Who needs a smart phone? Big Grin
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

I'm still using pmail, supports multiple ID's, It sits on a network drive and I can use it from any PC at home (and maybe away?). Been using it for donkeys years since I was postmaster/admin at a college.
I guess thunderbird is a modern posher replacement and support multiple ID's very well.

Thunderbird here too. I like Mozilla's Addons system for it.

Thanks for all the replies. I've installed Thunderbird and it imported all my OE stuff without a hitch. Looking good so far.

Cheers,
Brian

I like the way when I added my GMail accounts it recognised @gmail.com in the addresses and automatically looked up the server details. Nice touch. Smile

Cheers,
Brian
