Well the XP Machine is not picking up the channels...

In HDHomerun setup, try setting the application to "Other: ATSC/QAM"

I'm curious about the OS of the first machine you installed NextPVR on, looks like probably either Windows 8 or 8.1 preview. Your firewall rules appear to be correct, and yet one or more executables was only getting through when the firewall was turned off. That's very puzzling to me, and no doubt frustrating to you. Interesting that the problem returned after a reboot.

I'm trying to set it up on a Win7 OS... That's the system all the logs are coming from... Will try your suggestion.

Ok.. so I tried MediaPortal... Exact same issue, all is good as long as the firewall is down. Does this give anyone any extra insight?

No just Windows and avast

Windows Firewall should only block programs on the Exceptions list if "Block all incoming connections" is checked for the network location setting currently in use (either Public or Private):

If it isn't that, then the firewall apparently isn't working properly. I don't think avast is to blame since you report success with Windows Firewall turned off. I hesitate to suggest restoring defaults because firewall rules would have to be re-created for every program that needs one.

Yes and that's a lot... LOL... I checked and "block all incoming connections" is not checked... when i try this on an alternate PC I get the same result. Not sure where to go from here. I can only use the tuner and software if the firewall is down and I don't believe that would be very safe.

That's really odd. We've certainly not seen others with the same problem.

Does that other PC with same problem also have Avast?

Yes it does. As of now I have dropped the private network firewall. I have left the public firewall up. My router has it's own firewall. And Avast is enabled. I am only comfortable doing this temporarily though so if anyone has any ideas I am open. And for everyone who has helped so far I thank you. :-)
