Hi,
I want to develop a web program to schedule recordings of multiple TV channels (in India) at a time (depending on request). In India, there is digitization of cable TV channels now.
So, my question is whether NextPVR is the perfect software for me. If yes, is there only ASP.NET version for web interface? Also tell me which TV tuner card will be best suitable for my requirements.
Thanks in advance.

Here's a thread in which DVB-C tuner models were discussed: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...VB-C-tuner

If you are using a set top box that has analogue outputs, there might be advantages in using a PAL or hybrid tuner.

Thanks Graham for response
I prefer USB rather than PCI. Blackgold is costly model. So, I prefer Hauppauge Nova-T USB2 which seems to be old model and I did not find in local stores and online websites in India. I found used model on Amazon.co.uk site
Is there another model that is best suitable to my requirements and easily available in India?
Do DVB models support digital signals input?

Nova-T models are for over-the-air broadcasts that are usually received using an aerial as DVB-T broadcasts. Are you receiving cable TV via DVB-C? Are you receiving encrypted cable TV via a set-top-box? If you are not sure about all this, describe the equipment that you are currently using to receive TV including make and model.

I don't know exactly what signals are received by set top box. I only know that these are digital and my set top box passes only one channel at a time and channels control is through set top box.
I am using GTPL set top box (Website: http://www.gtpl.net/digital-cable-tv.html)
Also, info about digitization in India can be found in this article
http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/cable-...cts-204388

Also, I have created image showing my set top box information if u need

So, I will be grateful to u if u help me solve the issue.
Thanks

The ndtv page says
Quote:1. The Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2011 mandates that all cable TV operators will have to transmit TV signals in an encrypted format through a digital addressable system. This will be done through the installation of a set top box in every cable TV home.

If the signal is encrypted ... you will only be able to receive TV through the set-top-box (STB). The STB only allows a single channel to be viewed. Using NextPVR will only allow you to watch or record a single channel at one time.

One way to use NextPVR would be to acquire an analog TV device for the computer (the Hauppauge PVR150 used to be the recommended choice ... someone else may wish to suggest a current favourite) which would work with an IR device to change channels on the STB and pass the TV stream to the computer.

It may be more effective to get a video recorder type device from your cable company (if they have one). This might allow you access to more than one channel at a time.

If the TV signal is not encrypted, you have more options.

It is also possible to receive encrypted digital cable tv using dvb-c tuner cards and a softcam system (for decryption) provided that the system uses a smartcard which is not paired with the STB. We do that in Norway.
