Hey guys,
Just a quick update on this. We have a new contributor joining our group who is going to make this his project, which is fantastic because I've had to keep pushing it down to the to do list while we focus on getting our clients into all of their stores (ios, android, window phone/rt, roku etc).

Has there been any movement on 4.5 or should we still use your web services? I did some initial investigation in July and I'll be sharing that info with him.

Also, have you guys put any thought into building an api wrapper? We have two wrappers for our api available as nuget packages. One is a .net wrapper and the other is javascript:

https://github.com/MediaBrowser/MediaBrowser.ApiClient
https://github.com/MediaBrowser/MediaBro...Javascript

They've been a huge recruiting tool for us because I'm able to pitch that to prospective developers to let them know how easy our api is. As a result, we now have 6 client apps using the wrapper, and several other utility/plugin apps using them as well (for example, a kinect voice add-on).

There a lots of changes coming the xml interface has been expanded and UJB has added some JSON options to NEWA to use instead of Web Services. Web Services is still the most feature rich.

Some NextPVR users are clinging onto XP right to the end so I don't think sub is going to force them to off. MediaPortal, XBMC both dropped official XP support like you have done so the end is near.

Yeah, I want to retain XP compatibility, so the next release will move to .NET 4.0. This release will be available in a week or so.

Is there any time frame for the coming changes?
Will it be a REST API with JSON?

I see some example in the NEWA "site". But there is no streaming part (LIVE, no recordings)

Things got delayed a couple of weeks since my comment above, but the new release should be out this weekend.

The main http API (used by XBMC addon etc) is xml based, not REST/JSON. I think the updated version of NEWA (web app) included with the release adds some REST API with JSON, but I've never used it so can't provide you any guidance on that, or info about it's capabilities.

When the next version is released, I will upload my next version of x-newa which will provide examples in python of how to use

- sub's native xml methods
- UJB's new NEWA's JSON
- NEWA's SOAP

You don't need any service to stream though. From any of the above you can get the channel info and guide info and then just build the stream http://ip:port/live?channel=##&clientid=uniqueid

You will also get examples of the new touch UI features for /control and /activity but you probably want to keep your

As Martin says above, you can already stream. You don't need the new release for this.

For example, in VLC, just open a network URL like:

http://127.0.0.1:8866/live?channel=12

or

http://127.0.0.1:8866/live?recording=1234

Oh didn't know that! Smile
It would be great to see a new version this weekend.

So could do everything with the main http API? You don't need the NEWA "API"? Or ...
