Windows XP Home, SP3, .net 2.0 and 3.5 installed with all applicable updates installed. P4 2.8 Ghz, 2 GB memory.

I have an ATI TV Wonder from about 1999, VEN_109E&DEV_036E working with the native software from ATI. I can watch TV and change channels. This is NOT an All-In-Wonder Pro that has the video card integrated.

NextPVR 2.6.2 is installed, but nothing is showing up on the device menu.

1. Is this card even compatible with NextPVR?
2. Are there any Windows services NextPVR needs running in the background in order to recognize devices? I disable or uninstall many of the Windows services that are not needed in the background (System Restore, Terminal Services, Server, Themes, etc.) and in my normal build maybe I disabled something it requires.

Thank for any assistance with this.

Since this is an analog tuner, I will be installing the Hauppauge SoftPVR software tonight which, if it does not work, I will edit the AnalogDevices.xml file to see if I can get it working that way.

My apologies for not reading that at 2 AM before posting this morning. Smile

Full marks for continuing to help yourself. Yes, you're on the right track, and the card should work. If you get stuck, you'll want to post your filtercheck log and your NPVR log after going into Settings->Devices.

Followed some of the steps from the Getting Started info post. Installed the newest C++ and DirectX that were recommended.

Then tried the manual installation. http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...alogDevice

I do not have a WinTV7 CD/license, but I did attempt to install the software. The software would not install as it could not find a device.

Attempted to use the FilterCheck utility, found my card is software encoder since AM_KSCATEGORY_ENCODER and AM_KSCATEGORY_MULTIPLEXER are empty. I modified my AnalogDevices.xml file in the data directory, still not showing up in Settings->Devices.

I have attached the ZIP file which includes my AnalogDevices file which I edited the first item to include my card (so I thought), FilterCheck Utility, NVPR and NVPRRecord logs.

Any help welcome for a NPVR noob. Thanks!

Option 1 requires a Hauppauge device. Option 2 doesn't say "Install" it says "Download," followed by other steps. I'm not sure about the AnalogDevices entry but it won't matter without SoftPVR.

yes, you MUST get softpvr installed. as long as your NPVR.log contains these lines:
Code:
2013-10-08 22:02:50.781    [DEBUG][1]    FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: MainConcept (HCW) MPEG Multiplexer-Plus
2013-10-08 22:02:50.781    [DEBUG][1]    MainConcept mux not present. Disabling analog support.
the rest is irrelevant.

by the way, here's a modified version of the install batch file for softpvr. just put it and the wintv download in C:\Temp and run the batch file as administrator, it'll do the rest.

I used the batch file and WinTV7 download, installed softpvr, the ATI tuner showed up in Settings-Devices. I then attempted to perform a channel scan and received an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error. I took a look at the NPVR log and here is what I found:
2013-10-10 01:20:29.265 [DEBUG][1] Format now (width=720,height=480)
2013-10-10 01:20:29.296 [ERROR][1] Unable to connect capture to audio encoder
2013-10-10 01:20:29.406 [DEBUG][1] unable to find encoder

In my FilterCheck log, the sound card is also listed as analog:
01:08:17.515 INFO Checking AM_KSCATEGORY_CAPTURE filters
01:08:17.546 INFO found: ATI TV Wonder Capture

I modified AnalogDeices.xml to also include soft_encode on the SoundMax card:
<Device filter="ATI TV Wonder Capture">
<Name>ATICard</Name>
<Type>SOFT_ENCODE</Type>
</Device>

<Device filter="SoundMAX Digital Audio">
<Name>SoundMAXCard</Name>
<Type>SOFT_ENCODE</Type>
</Device>

Tried to channel scan, same error. Rebooted, same error. Uninstalled NextPVR, deleted the C:\DocsSets\All users\AppData\NPVR directory, reboot, fresh install of NPVR 2.6.2, installed softpvr, massaged the AnalogDevices.xml as above again, device shows up, attempted to channel scan, same Object error, same NPVR.log error.

I included the new ogs in a new ZIP, attached. Thank you both for your help thus far.

It's crashing because the device doesn't have an audio pins on the capture filter. It doesn't know how to work with a device that doesn't have these.

This isn't the OCUR (CableCard) tuner that ATI put out for a limited time by any chance is it (I don't remember them including any software with it as mentioned in your first post so probably not)? If so, it's not going to work.
